Perfume shopping in Finland?

I'm going to Finland next week - first to Helsinki for a few days followed by a stay in Turku.

What are the best places to shop for scents? I'd really appreciate any tips from Finns or others in the know.

There should be Comme des Garcons' store in Helsinki As far as the information is still valid
Eerikinkatu 3 (Helsinki10)

There is also big department store Stockmann (Aleksanterinkatu 52 B), along with usual suspects (Chanel, YSL etc)

Thank you, Dariushka! Do you know whether the Chanel Exclusifs can be found anywhere? I'd love to finally be able to try those.

Hello there,

I dont know Helsinki too well and I have never even been to Turku, but unfortunately I have a feeling that you wont find anything from here. When it comes to perfume shops this country sucks, really. Basically just mainstream stuff without any niche stuff available. To my knowledge Comme des Garcons doesnt have anything here anymore. The Guerrilla store was around many years ago, and then they had some limited presentation at some store in Helsinki - maybe that place is still hanging on, that I do not know.

Chanel Exclusifs??? Fat chance.

About 10 years ago we still had a great amount of small perfumeries which were unfortunately then eaten up by big stores like Stockmann and especially Sokos (chain store).

The best thing I expect to happen is that if you would pump in by accident to some of these remaining small perfume shops. Those can really include some (discontinued) treasures and with a great discount too. But just to be honest, it is extremely unlikely for you to find any of these in Helsinki or Turku. Hopefully you will be more informed before your trip as we actually have some Finns here from both of those cities, I think.

Many thanks for your response, PM. That's bad news, of course, but good to know. I'm really surprised that a capital city like Helskinki wouldn't have any nice perfumeries. Even here in Innsbruck (a fairly small city) we've got two nice niche shops.

That's why I have bought most of my scents either online or on travels. Finland is a third world country when it comes to perfumes.

In addition to the places already mentioned in this thread there's a little clothes boutique on Eerikinkatu (across the street from Helsinki 10 and one block forward, it shares the door with a hairdressing salon...) that sells Miller Harris scents, but that's about it.

Have to agree with your opinion. Anybody out there could help me about where I can order some essential/fragrance oil that can be shipped to Finland? Would like to start my niche perfume business in Finland.

Thanks!

hey, i know the thread's been up here for over two years and i just happen to see this now..
I know that the fragrances of the house Kerosene can be bought on line via MiN store in N.Y,
also the fragrances of Bond 9. and be shipped worldwide on their home website.
Also, a store located in London, Les Senteurs also provide the shipping.
http://www.lessenteurs.com

hope this helps.
ciao!
