True Blood finale

Who else watched it? What'd you think? Who do you think snatched Bill?

My husband was enthralled and spent the rest of the night whining about how he can't possibly wait 9 months until the next season. I was left very...disappointed. I'm a big fan of the books, which I think is part of my problem - I'm seriously prejudiced against Bill and pro-Eric - and that doesn't seem like it meshes too well with where they're nudging the TV show. Ah well! At least I can ogle Alexander Skarsgaard still...

I've been sick of Maryann since about three episodes in, so I was happy to see her bite the dust early.

I watched it. After the first 30 minutes, my attention was wandering already. I like that Maryann was killed, I was pretty tired of that too.

I'm actually pro-Eric myself, I've never read the books, but he's more interesting and has more dimension than Bill.

There's a number of attractive men in the series, but I feel that the show's lacking female hotness, eh well maybe next season.

Oh so glad to see a BN post about True Blood!!

Ok well I never read the books, which is probably a good thing. I am kind of pro Eric anyways...I still think Sookie and Bill are doomed, and thought there was a bit of foreshadowing with Bill and Jessica perhaps? The chemistry with Eric and Sookie is so strong!

Gah Maryanne was killing me- I thought Sam's shapeshifting move was brilliant!! LOL at "My husband!!" when the bull wandered on screen. She irritated everyone. As was Eggs last night so I was also glad to see the end of him. LOL- on IMDB a few cast members are noted as "Random Frenzier" and "Meat Totem Dancer"

Who snatched Bill? Hm. Could it be a minion of his crazy maker Lorena?

I am a fan of both the books and the TV show.In fact, the author Charlaine Harris had a cameo in the finale. She is the woman sitting at the bar talking to Sam when he re-opens the bar after the incident with Maryanne.
Alan Ball has shown that he holds somewhat close to the books and if he does then my guess is as 3xasif already surmised it is Lorena behind Bill's abduction. in the books she convinces the King of Mississippi to kidnap Bill and Sookie turns to Eric for help in finding him. My guess is we will get a similar version of that for season three. It deepens Eric and Sookie's connection and keeps the romantic triangle going. If the third season also holds a little to the books we will meet the werewolf community in this season as well.
I have to say that I am a fan of both versions of this universe and have enjoyed both of them immensely.
I wasn't disappointed in the finale because I like that half the episode was the aftermath of events. it was one of the things that i thought "The Sopranos" did so well was having the big conflict happen in the next-to-last episode so that the last episode showed the repercussions. That was what the last half of the True blood finale was, for me.

I was wondering if they'd go the Lorena route or spin it like Eric had arranged the whole thing, since he promised the Queen that he'd take care of Bill. And since Eric has a spark for Sookie, it'd be very convenient for him to get rid of his competition (and in the TB universe, he'll do whatever necessary to drive that wedge, ie summoning Lorena in the first place). I'll be right miffed if they do that though.

hmmm I guess we shall see I think there's another book coming out in May 2010 to help tide me over.

I'm pretty sure Alan Ball mentioned that we'll be seeing werewolves this season. They've already cast the King of Mississippi and are sending out feelers for Alcide Herveaux, last I heard.

Love the books, not such a fan of the Season Two story line. I thought the whole wedding scene was really dumb; except for Lafayette in the bridesmaid dress.

Personally, I'd like to see more Eric & his crew, a Hotshot storyline, less wacko Tara, more Lafayette and bring on the vampire politics! A sprinking of other weres and some witches would be nice too. The Hoyte/Jessica storyline has some potential, if they don't scr*w it up with the whole virgin/whore characterization. That's pretty old.

Nooooooooo I already cant wait for a new series , has to have been Eric or the Queen that snatched Bill and spoilt Sookies moment .

Most disappointed we didnt get to see Sams junk either

It has gradually turned hokey, adolescent, ponderous, amateurish and poorly acted over the season. It seems the writers have exhausted any good ideas and are desperately reaching. Sorry to be negative about it but that is my opinion. I had such high hopes until late season..

The blood orgy was sweet! And it was pretty cool-looking when Maryann died!

kbe - I agree with you partially. I would've rather pulled out my fingernails than endure another episode of Maryanne; that whole storyline was just a major turn-off to me.

Ah ... just watched it! I couldn't watch last night so I recorded it. I was SO tempted to read this thread earlier, but I stayed strong. (I've not read the books ... thinking I might need to!)

I agree, SMM, that the episode was part wrapping up and part laying the groundwork for next season. It would feel very anti-climatic to leave all questions unanswered until the next season. So, I am satisfied, yet curious ...

I was sick to death of Maryanne and that whole story line, I'm very glad to see that over. I hope they aren't going to dwell on Tara and her reaction to Egg's death.

Is there going to be some salvation for Jason?

I'm afraid poor Jessica is going to start a killing streak.

I think it is Lorena behind Bill's disappearance.

I can't decide if I am Team Bill or Team Eric I'm not sure either one has the truest of intentions.

oh! so many more questions and comments ...

Kbe, I agree with you too, for the most part. Also, by waiting until the last episode to resolve the Maryann arc they had to rush to the finish line with everything that happened afterward. And then, as soon as she was slain, it was like -- bam! Everybody out of the pool, have you seen my purse, who needs a ride home, it's not your fault, Tara . . . and then we are back at Merlotte's, business as usual. I would have preferred Maryann's demise to have taken place earlier, and to have the last episode explore more fully the aftermath of her reign of terror, followed by a last-minute glimpse of the next big thing to come. Finally, another season ends with a serial killer getting finished off?

Drinking game.

Every time Bill says "Sookie!"

Every time Tara has an incredulous look on her face

Every time Jason is dumbfounded

I whooped it up when Maryanne and Eggs bit it. Too much of both of them during season 2
