Welcome to Basenotes!

...However

That "netspeak" slang isn't going to get you much of a response around here.

This community is mainly composed of mannerly, articulate ladies and gentleman, and we do not communicate in the way you have chosen to. This isn't the right forum for this question, either!

So - that being said,

I immediately think of Hermes Un Jardin Mediterranee when I think of a wet garden in the spring. It really does have a great earthy quality, and the floral element shouldn't be too much for most guys.

+1. This is the one that came to my mind first.

Some patchouli could also resemble soil (though not in the Demeter Dirt's way), for instance Patchouli Patch by l'Artisan.

Tauer - Verdant

This smell IS soil. Musty soil. You can get it from Tauer directly from his website tauerperfumes.com or at luckyscent.com. Both will probably run you somewhere in the $150 range I'd imagine.

Here is the cheapest and most powerhouse scent of all: Wildlife Research Earth Masking Scent.

At $4.99 you can't go wrong. I have a bottle of vintage. It REALLY smells like wet forest floor. Not just that - it's extremely pleasant. Although I have to warn you - it also says not to spray on skin!

Anyone knows whats in that Demeter fragrance? Curious.....else thinking of maybe layering that with some other fragrance and whoom I have my holy grail. Wet soil does sounds nice, must be put in an exquisite concoction, and I'm all in.

Delicious Mitti probably. The smell of the first rain on the dry river bed of the Ganges. @Heawns. Want a drop to try? I've never smelled the Demeter.

L'Ombre dans L'Eau by Diptyque

I just think this is the bee's knees for that earthy smell. Its a perfect fall fragrence. Reminds me of leaves freshly fallen from the trees in great piles that have been rained on for a couple of days and ready to be swept away.

Zombie thread!

That being said, Neil Morris' Dark Earth is my top pick, followed by CB I Hate Perfume's Black March.

Still turned out to be a very interesting thread! I'll add Supercharged by Jeanne Arthes.

I'm back from the dead!
And have stopped smoking for some time,

sitting here smelling those drops on my hand (man it's oily and kinda burns though).... Lovely smell. It really has something on the lines of what you wrote, or (can't remember the thread about) the smell of first rain on dry earth.... Guessing, like you wrote, it would do perfect coupled with some other fragrance (something floral or not very dense perhaps). Will try layering with A travers le miroir (might help it last longer also?), and Ghost Man later.

Or perhaps Absinthe by Ava Luxe, that'd be interesting, like an even deeper stranger version of Dali. edit: Actually that would probably, hopefully just boost the absinthe accord [which is I have to say extremely true to what absinthe smells like] ....well it only smells like absinthe not much more.

Haven't gotten the demeter one yet, totally forgot, will get it next time I order something from a certain korean fashion site.

1969 almost killed me like it was woodstock! but then I bought it for what it was and it went along fine. ; - )

Will report somewhere, this week on my impressions of layering with this stuff.
