Royal Violets Eau de Cologne for men by Agustin Reyes dates from 1927. It's available in the US at Walgreen's and K-Mart, usually in the Mexican products aisle.

Is this different from the kind that people use on babies?

One and the same.

The only information I could find on the notes was from this website:

http://www.sugardaisy.com/rovieaudeco.html

"Top notes of violet are rounded with a middle accord of Bergamot (citrus), Lily of the Valley, and touch of Rose. The warm bottom notes are a mix of Sandalwood, Vetiver, and Orris with a hint of Vanilla to soften the blend."

Reyes does have baby colognes as part of their line, but the bottle in the white box that is not a spray is generally used by men. In California at least it is typically found in stores in Latino neighborhoods.
