a thank-you "card"

In researching material for my Conehead social group here on BN, I found this poem. And the poem goes so well with this picture I really like...
So here is a "card" of sorts, a thank you to all you great Basenote folk for the discussions and sharing. I sure enjoy it here.
Cheers, ody

“Spring Pools” by Robert Frost

These pools that, though in forests, still reflect
The total sky almost without defect,
And like the flowers beside them, chill and shiver,
Will like the flowers beside them soon be gone,
And yet not out by any brook or river,
But up by roots to bring dark foliage on.
The trees that have it in their pent-up buds
To darken nature and be summer woods –
Let them think twice before they use their powers
To blot out and drink up and sweep away
These flowery waters and these watery flowers
From snow that melted only yesterday.

PS -- the great image is by M. C. Escher, "Puddle"

A beautiful picture and poem Ody. Frost had an amazing talent for restating the obvious to give us insight and a new depth of understanding. Thanks for sharing it.

Fantastic Ody!

That Escher image has always been one of my favourites. I can *feel* the cool and damp air- so evocative. And the poem is beautiful.

As always Ody, you bring grace to this board.

Thank YOU

This image is fascinating to me Ody - love it- it's one I can look at for a long time and still find something new. The textures are wonderful .

Glad you like the image, I love it. I use it in teaching a lot, it illustrates many things such as paradox and the combining of opposites. Escher is great for putting philosophical and psychological issues, which are very abstract, into a visual/concrete form.

Thank you, OdyM. I always liked Escher (art, y'know...) because his work cannot be understood in just one glance.

It reminds me of solitary and introspective walks in the woods while camping...observing reflections, tire tracks and footprints...

Lovely poem and picture, Ody! And serendipitous as well. I was about to send off a package to a friend, (who incidentally loves poetry of all sorts, and Frost in particular), and I shall have to include a copy of this poem in my letter to her!
