True about the bling of road bikes but have you seen the Carbon Yeti ASR with the integrated seatpost? http://www.yeticycles.com/#/bikes/ASRCarbon/

Cycling is my passion and I've even embraced the suffering of climbing or hanging on in a fast group. It's important to work the core and some resistance twice a week as cycling is low impact.

That is pretty darn sweet!
I used to run, too, until I messed up my knee (clumsy Lena + very rough cross country trail = recipe for disaster) but I'm thinking about working my way back up to that, if I'm able.
Best of luck with your comeback! Easy does it

I was a big recreational rider in my youth but let it go when I moved out of my parents home. Now that I live in Portland I recently bought a new bike (nothing fancy, CroMo cyclocross bike) and have been enjoying getting back into the habit. I didn't realize I had gotten so out of shape!
So far i've netted a gain of 5 lbs, hopefully all of which is muscle, though i'm still waiting for my midsection to show evidence of shrinking.
Isn't it funny how it becomes evident whem you get your arse back on the saddle? Happy trails with your cyclocross machine.
