Final Fantasy?

I'm a huge nerd when it comes to Final Fantasy which is funny because, as Astaroth would tell you, if you saw me you would think that's the last thing I'm into.

So does anyone play any of the Final Fantasy's (correct punct for title?) or has anyone played any?

I'm a fellow nerd! 7 and 10 were my favourites!

 Oh yes. Another nerd in the house! I have played a couple from the series. Was previously hooked on Crisis Core. Currently on Dissidia, but it isn't role-playing this time round. They made a story-based fighting game this time. Still very fun since we get reacquainted with some old characters. The character and stats building still applies.

I think my first encounter with FF was on a Super Famicom console, over a decade ago.

I played 9 start to finish, so I'm only a FFIX nerd. It's one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done. Stotyline, battle system, characters, music. It was a perfect game.

Yeah, I love those games. 7 is like my favorite game of all time, and this summer I beat 12 (everything in that game was perfect except for the damn story, which was... ok)

I was debating getting a PS just for this game (well, not just, but you know, FFXII was a the major reason) but I read the reviews about the not-so-good story and well, it got me less excited. 13 should be revolutionary though. The battles look totally crazy.

You know, in retrospect, I bet the designers probably regretted calling the first one "final"... after about #15 or so, I'm beginning to wonder, is this really the final fantasy? ;-)

Loved 7/8, the one with Squal. Became so addicted I had to just quit, that game took over my life.

See avatar.

Yeah, i'm oldschool. FFIV and VI are my faves!
I played "wing man" for FFVII and played FFIX start to finish. Other older games I really liked were Lunar Silver Star Story, Chrono Cross and Xenogears.
I've played FFV through FFX-2 and FF Tactics, haven't played anything since then though. I put about 200 hours on 7 and 8 both, trying to be a completionist (getting all the Huge/Master Materia on VII and collecting every card on VIII, and had every summon and weapon on both as well)
I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them. This is the case with most of the Final Fantasy's as well. I think I have only completed IX and X. I've gotten about halfway through VII and VIII. I do enjoy all of them, I just get sidetracked with other stuff and then when I go back to the game I feel like I don't remember anything about where I am and what I'm supposed to be doing so I feel obliged to start over... one of these days! Xenogears is another one I have never completed, though the Xenosaga series manages to hold my attention all the way through.

I played some of my cousin's FFX years ago and liked it.

But I don't have a game system of any kind. If I did, I'm sure I be a huge FF nerd though! They're very engrossing games.
in case you didn't guess from my avatar I am a big time nerd

I've played most of the Final Fantasy games up through 9, but I gave up on the series after that.

Some of my other favorite console RPGs: Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete (Asha has good taste lol) and Star Ocean: The Second Story.

I must give Chrono Trigger another mention. It is/was one of my favorite RPGs.

I am also a huge fan of Suikoden!

Xenogears anyone?

FF is real addictive and i remember getting hooked on FF (can't remember which one) for a few months after watching my bro playing it on PS2. Then the xbox 360 arrived and it was goodbye PS2 and FF LOL.

Fallout 3 anyone ?

7 and 10? Yet its called FINAL Fantasy. Am I the only one who wonders about that?

I used to love it on the SNES. Wow that was like during the Jurassic period I know. I lost the luster for video games when I got really into sports though. It was fun while it lasted. I' play for hours-days-weeks like that kid who died playing video games. I didnt die though I fell asleep.

Chrono Trigger on the SNES was incredible. It still is SquareSoft's highpoint.

FF7 was fantastic as well...bringing mucho cd-based cinematics for the first time to console gaming (moving from N64 to the PSX).

I have sort of lost interest in the series after too many FFs...8, 9, X, XI, the online versions, the Crystal Chronicle offshoots...Square is diluting the brand.

My favorite RPG of all time is Zelda: Ocarina of Time...incredible stuff really. I would buy it again if they spruced up the graphics and increased the framerate to 60fps.

I am looking forward to playing Fallout 3....heard many good things about. Oblivion was great, and absolutely massive.

I used to want to be Link!

Soooooo excited for FF13. I was doing backflips the day they announced it was gonna be made for the 360 and not just PS3. I don't think I would've bought a PS3 just to play FFXIII, but I certainly would've considered it.

I agree with most of what you've said. Final Fantasy 8 was ok, but they turned it into too much of a soap opera, and buying your spells was just stupid. They tried to return to the roots with FF9 but the story sucked and the characters were annoying. After that, well, I wouldn't know.

Fallout 1 & 2 were both amazing but to be honest I couldn't imagine myself ever playing another Elder Scrolls type game again. I OD'ed on Morrowind to the point where I get sick just looking at screen shots.

You really wanna make Vivi the greatest Black Mage ever angry?

You can never have too much Morrowind!

I thought Morrowind was far more enjoyable than the dumbed down Oblivion. I'd love for the next game to return to a more old-school style where everything isn't handed to you on a silver platter (quest/item locations, etc).

I might just have to reinstall Morrowind.

LOL! Vivi was waaaaaay too emo for me. He reminded me of Shinji from Evangelion (omg I'm really showing my nerdliness here aren't I?)

As for Morrowind... it was really an excellent, well-made game but I think I got a little too into it... I was seriously using the world-builder to make +200 acrobatics items. The world would load every time I jumped . Kind of embarrassing to admit now, but I think I did pretty much every quest in the game and explored nearly every inch of the map. If you do reinstall it, have fun but watch out for cliff racers

We've actually got quite a lot of nerds here... maybe we need to have a basenotes LAN party.

I definitely did most of the quests, beat the main story, and also the expansion packs.

Cliff racers. UGH!

I never did play Morrowind, but I've put more time into Oblivion than I'd care to admit (and I've already admitted to putting 400 hours on 2 games). Very, very excited about Elder Scrolls V when it launches in, oh, 2036.
