What´s Your Favourite New Fragrance ?

Thread Starter
It can be male or female, released within the past 12 months.
From 2009 - Joop! Thrill Men, YSL's La Nuit De L'homme, the new DKNY Men.
Well......this one came out about a year and a half ago, but Dirty English is the only recent bottle worthy scent I have found for myself.
My current favorite, Kenzo Power (2008).
I'm rather enamoured with my sample of parfum d'empire Ambre Russe. Can't say if it'll last the distance, but 'tis truly gorgeous and a contender for current fave.

Edit: Oops. Just realised you meant newly released, not new to me. That'll teach me to go on the title without reading the post properly!
Sorry, haven't got a fave from the past year. Nothing's grabbed me yet.

Jil Sander Scent 79

Serge Lutens Forreau Noir (even though I was skeptical at first...)

I smelt that recently, thought it was a close copycat of Vetiver 46, can you compare them?

I think they might be similar maybe, but I have smelled Dirty English and Comme des Gracons Man 2 on my friend, and on his skin, I think the second is a much closer match.
I was very impressed by Grey Vetiver and bought a bottle shortly after its release. In the long run, though, it may end up being Fille en Aiguilles, which I really liked but haven't purchased yet.

Pure Malt...it was love at first scent
Mark Buxton's Black Angel

...it's the bees knees
The Buxton line impressed me as a whole, Chanel Allure Edition Blanche is more than decent, too, though I dont think its under 12 months old.
A little older but, new to me, Cologne du 68 by Guerlain and Nahema also by Guerlain.
Of all things, Victory League.

Agreed

I haven't tried many new frags this year, but Tauer's Une Rose Chyprée is the best I've tried and really quite delightful in a retro way.

I have a sample of vetiver 46 and really like it, but I don't think that 46 and Dirty English are very similar.
MCM 24 Morning and Evening . . . . they're new to me.
The one, Kenzo power and Dirty English.
on my Top list for sure, and they're all 2008 releases.
I'm not certain I'd use the word 'favourite'.

For calendar 2009 so far - Davidoff Adventure Amazonia; and on the other side of the shop, Prada L'Eau Ambree.
I just sampled the new CdG Daphne and it's one of the greatest works of perfumery I've smelled in a modern fragrance.

Both Guerlain Oriental Brulent and Chypre Fatale (Oct. 08 release) are pretty good. The new ELDO Fat Electrician impresses me a lot, and even though I've only sampled it, the Tom Ford Urban Musk impressed me a lot.

From the designer world, Polo Modern Reserve was a highlight of fall '08 and this spring the new Hermes Kelly Caleche EdP (as opposed to the EdT, which has been around for a while) is pretty fantastic.
Currently, I would say Black Fleece.
Any votes for Fahrenheit Absolute or Azzaro ph Elixer? Been a lot of buzz about these on the forums but they haven't made it state side yet.
Probably just outside of 12 months, but my newest favorite is Versace Pour Homme.
Well, since it has to be within the past 12 months, I'd say Zirh Ikon, which is surprisingly better than many others that I was really looking forward to from "real" perfume houses. I guess $$$ doesn't always determine the enjoyability of a fragrance (not that I ever really thought it did).

Back to Black
I am thrilled by Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver, but the fragrance itself is not thrilling. It is the perfect antithesis to a pungent vetiver such Creed's and Etro's. It is very wearable under all circumstance.

I have not gotten the opportunity to sample Pure Malt and need to search it out before it is long gone.

YSL Nuit Homme.....This works Great on my skin.
Gary
Geranium Pour Monsieur by D. Ropion & Frederic Malle and Epic Woman by Amouage are my two favourite 2009 releases. I would like to try Jil Sander 79 and the new Nicolai Patchouli.

The other major favourite that I can't pin a date on is Mazzolari Lui.
Amouage Epic Man gets the honor. A take no prisoners, long lasting, spicy incense. If I get it on my outwear, I can smell it forever.
Jil Sander Scent 79 Man, hands down
Next is Divine L`Etre Aime Homme.

Fahrenheit Absolute and Idylle Guerlain are going to be huge commercial successes, but they are not nesessary for me.
Kenzo Power 'fo sho' '
Black Afghano, Pure Oud, Back to Black, Eau Radieusse, Fat Electrician
post #35 of 75
Tie between Fahrenheit Absolute and Amouage Lyric man
post #36 of 75
The only one I have that probably meets the criteria of newly released is Lalique White (2008). Not fantastic, but above average for sure. I have not tried many new releases to begin with.
Aoud Leather by Montale -A challenging fragrance, but certainly the one release that has intrigued me the most
post #38 of 75
Andy Tauer´s Une rose chyprée!

Others are: Roadster by Cartier, Cedrat Intense by de Nicolai and Terre d´Hermès parfum.
Baume du Doge by Eau d'Italie
Nothing!!!!!
Jil Sander Scent 79 Man... glad to see so much love on here. Fantastic fragrance!
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver by a looooong shot.

I am looking forward to Fahrenheit Absolute though.
Le Parfum by B. Bui
I have Fahrenheit Absolute and it's good but doesn't quite rise to the level of 'favorite'.
After the responses I've gotten... Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver. Walked past somebody this morning, they chased me down to ask me what it was. Said it was faint, yet distinguished enough to warrant asking.
There's a lot of recent releases I love. My favourites would have to be A*Men Pure Coffee, the new DKNY Men, Kenzo Power, Versace Pour Homme, and Victoria's Secret Vertical. I don't know exactly when scents release, so I just took out my 5 star fragrances from 2008 and 2009.
Givenchy Play Intense
Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens
Nothin' for me too...I'm getting to be a fussy old man. I think the last thing I remember really liking was Fuel for Life (the women's)...and Missoni. Neither of those are new anymore though I don't think.
No doubt;the new Fahrenheit Absolute.
This summer Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur was my new favorite but weather is getting cooler now. It got better each time I wore it. Great in warm weather!

In the last month though I found Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles to be my new favorite - what a great piney incense fragrance.

You can't go wrong with either of these.
Designer: Infusion d'Homme PRADA

Niche: I haven't smelled many recent releases...

Same here. Like many others I was pretty lukewarm on the original L'Homme but the La Nuit interpretation has really impressed me. I was very pleasantly surprised after the middling reviews I had read.

Fat Electrician by Etat Libre d’Orange find it to be a great scent for me
post #56 of 75
REALLY diggin the new ones from Maison Francis Kardjian - Lumiere Noire, APOM, and Cologne de Soire..Great stuff
post #57 of 75
YSL's La Nuit De L'homme
Some of the recent better ones, IMO:

Christian Dior Fahrenheit Absolute
Brooks Brothers Black Fleece for Men and Women
Jil Sander Scent 79 Man
Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt
Halston Man
Narciso Rodriguez for Him Musk Collection EDP
Terre d'Hermes Parfum
Of the recent (2009) releases I've tried, my favorites so far have been Manoumalia, Felanilla, Wazamba, the re-release of Ubar, and Geranium pour Monsieur. Going back to 2008, I'd include Homage, Azzaro Couture, Cuir Pleine Fleur, Magnolia Romana, Majestic, Scent 79 for Men, Sycomore, Iris de Nuit, Onda, Sel Marin, and Rubj. Hmm. Looks like '08 was a better year for me...
Fille en Aiguilles, Back to Black, Wazamba, Geranium pour Monsier, Homage, Gourmand Coquin
