Warm gourmand-ish designer scents for winter

Thread Starter
I just smelled Paco Rabanne 1 Million and it reminded me that I do not have any cold weather scents. I liked 1 million, although I don't know if it is right for me. I have also tried and liked A*Men Pure Malt...a lot.
Are there any other DESIGNER scents out there that you guys would lump in with these two as gourmand-ish warm scents that would work well in cold weather?

Rochas Man.

Hugo Boss Soul
Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge
Rochas Desir
Issey Miyake Bleue (is not a gourmand..but, is a terribly underrated release)

I have a brand-new bottle of Jacomo de Jacomo available, if anybody's interested! Check out my swap link below.

+1 L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme. Not a straight-up gourmand to my nose, but definitely a great scent.
Another for Rochas Man!

Also, though not necessarily gourmand, but possibly gourmand-ish, I'd suggest CK Intense Euphoria Men and Gucci Envy.
I would of course go with the original A*Men (Therry Mugler). Rochas Man is "nice", though, just a bit milky-way for me. Too romantic, if you want. A*Men takes no prisoners! (How I like this English phrase.)
Jacomo's new "Man" (or "Silver") is mild but not a weakling. Pineapple, coffee, amber, plum, and mild pepper. I find myself reaching for it more than the other gourmands when I want a gourmand. Also, Dunhill Desire (red) for men is another one that doesn't get as much discussion here on BN as frags like A*Men or Rochas Man, but it's one I prefer by a wide margin over those two.

I would have to say YSL, Opium. Now, if you can get your hands on the EDP version then that is even better because it, to my nose, smells much deeper than the EDT. I feel like the EDT, albeit fantastic, is a tad watered down when compared with the EDP. But please do not get me wrong the EDT is still fantastic and very strong - it can clear a room or even drop an elephant from 50 yards away.

I also like A*MEN alot better than Rochas Man. I feel like RM smells a bit plasticy and much cheaper than A*MEN. Maybe I am nuts though because RM is a beloved fragrance.

Pure Malt A*Men

Best version of A*men
I was gonna suggest Farenheit Absolute , not sure if its a gourmand but I would suggest its perfect for the winter
post #15 of 55
Bond New Haarlem (niche)

or maybe Givenchy Play Intense
Delices d'Epices-Les Belles de Ricci
Theorema-Fendi
Winter Delice-Guerlain
Jil-Jil Sander-don't know if this is still available.
Gucci Envy.
To my nose Polo Double Black has a bit of cool mango to it, as well, but the dominant impression is of warm spices, coffee and maybe a touch of tobacco. A really luxurious fall scent.
B*men is nice and warm.It has a peanut-ish smell to it. Its comforting and not as off putting as A*men. Cheap too
post #20 of 55
Pure Malt is the best winter gourmand IMO

Rochas Man, if you want a great lavenderish gourmand

Lolita Lempicka au Masculin, havent tried this one yet, but heard good things about it

Givenchy Play Intense, very nice gourmandish smell (its not an intenser version of Play)

Opium Ph, Givenchy Very Irresistible.

Dior Homme Intense eau de parfum..........ah.

Another one for Opium ph

+1 for Dior Homme Intense and Opium PH.

I would add Animale Animale for Men for a deep, warm scent full of bergamot, chocolate, vanilla and sandalwood. It can be found for cheap, as well.

AA is a fantastic call. It smells somewhat similar to A*MEN and Rochas Man; it has that chocolate coffee tinge to it. I think you can grab a 3.3 oz. bottle for around $15. Quite a steal if you ask me, especially some people prefer it to A*MEN, RM, and New Harlaam by Bond No. 9. On that note, I feel that AA smells much more like New Harlaam as opposed to A*MEN and RM.

All in all, if I had to choose a good cheapie that will warm me up, i would go for AA.:toppie:

Definitely Bond No 9's new fragrance Andy Warhol Success is a Job In New York. It is a spicy-oriental, very gourmand and rich making it a perfect winter fragrance..
Since you said "warm" I was going to say A Men Pure Malt too. It's a gourmand but it's also decidedly warm and masculine. I think of Rochas or JPG Le Male, fore example, as more cool scents due to the vanilla. I saw Opium PH mentioned which wouldn't be a bad choice either especially if you can find it for dirt cheap. I haven't tried Animale Animale but I've heard lots of comparisons to A Men so if you can find it cheap it may be worth consideration.

No thanks
I second Animale Animale, Angel and Rochas Man.

Jo Malone-Black Vetyver Cafe, Bond No. 9 New Haarlen, Bond No. 9 So New York, Bond No.9 Chinatown.

How about the delightfully sweet, yet not exactly gourmand--Tom Ford Tabacco Vanille---so nice.

Yes... another vote for Fahrenheit Absolute if it's available!
Rochas Man, or Hanae Morie, though they are too popular here :P

Thierry Pure Malt, or Pure Coffee will be the best choice.
Another vote for A*Men. It is a fantastic scent for when the temperature drops.

I'd also say that Dior Homme is a fine one as well. Both of these get heavy play in wintertime.
Bvlgari Black? Half gourmand (vanilla and tea) and half really really really not (rubber and leather).
Not familiar with 1 Million and I pretty much hate all Mugler's creations... but as far as warm gourmandish scents go: try L'Occitane Eau des Beaux. Not a gourmand note in sight in the pyramid, but I swear it reads as a soft gourmand oriental - very nice indeed.
If anyone's really curious about Animale Animale, Perfumania is selling it for $20 bucks through Nov. 9th or something. I think it works but it can be dangerously cloying if used unsparingly. However, it doesn't strike me as a winter scent because of the citrus fruits in the top.

I second this as a great designer gourmand... I just wish it was a bit stronger.

Lolita Lempicka au Masculin and Polo Double Black are also fantastic imho.

Also try Gucci edp (the original brown juice)--it's pour femme, but wonderfully rich, dark orange-vanilla that is completely unisex.

It's spring and 25 degree C today here in Australia, and I'm planning on going dancing tonight, and I've got Dior Homme on today... It's also one of my faves anyway, and it gets heavy play in wintertime, but I imagine I can continue wearing it until the weather hits 30C.

Ted Lapidus pour Lui
Christobal pour Homme - Balenciaga

Body Kouros
Animale Animale
Rochas Man
A*Men Pure Coffee

I never really considered myself a gourmand lover but apparently I am when i survey my collection! Here's some winter options that i absolutely love:

Musc Ravageur - legend.

Hanae Mori EDP - this is my latest obsession. EDP not EDT.

Jaipur EDP - more oriental than gourmand, but has edible notes and vanilla. Luxurious.

Lolita Lempicka - its bold and black licoricey.

Kenzo Jungle Elephant for women - Holy Cow this stuff is outrageous, and unapologetic. To this day it's the compliment king for me because i got 4 compliments in 30 minutes when i walked into work wearing this. Problem is that its toooo strong an cloying. apply sparingly, young Jedi. You will smell it for days.

Dunhill Desire - let others mock you. This cheap frag gets lotsa comments. How can you not try something that mixes green apple and lime into a vanilla frag?

Also Quasar

I want to throw in Musc Ravageur. On me at least, it's less musk and more gourmand. I get heavy cinnamon/cloves with a hint of musk.
