Eau d'Italie's Paestum Rose: 17 positive reviews out of 17 here on basenotes and five stars by Chandler Burr. This must be one of the best scents ever created. I couldn't but order this one blind.

It's quite good. I'd say more 4 stars than 5, but still good.

It's quite distinctive. I would not order it blind, definitely try first.

Right, I forgot, four stars by Turin.

You mean you wouldn't or would you?

Sorry......I would not order it blind. I'll check my samples & see if I have one I can send you.

Very nice of you, but too late. I have ordered it today directly via their site. Nice folks down there in Positano.

I tried it and it didn't set off the olfactory fireworks. However, it's often the case that a frag smells great at first, then you eventually find it to be just okay. This is why I have such a large rotation. After a month or more of not smelling a frag, the "magic" can often be recaptured !

This was me and Paestum Rose. It kind of went from "wow" to "oh, that's nice" through no inherent fault of the fragrance. It has peppery, dry, transparent quality that's really refreshing and unique initially, but I find it doesn't really develop too far away from that, and that's where it loses me in comparison to some more multi-faceted roses. It's always pleasant wearing, though.

My husband and I both had the "Wow!" reaction to Paestum Rose and almost ordered a bottle to share. But we thought we'd wait a bit and see if we still felt the same way before spending the money.

In the end we both lost interest and I found a completely different perfume for the woody notes I wanted (Bois de Paradis).

I love this darn scent. It is amazing. Beautifully made! Quality rose for a man and a wonderful scent for the winter time. I cant wait to start wearing this when it gets cold here in Los Angeles... if it ever gets cold here!!!

I just find it dry and peppery and really uninteresting. I don't think I'd wear it even if I was given a bottle.

It's a great frag IMHO. I hope you'll like it as much as I do.

I liked it and then sort of hated it after several wearings - it smelled a bit too much like apple cider vinegar and roses.

I really love Une Rose in the Editions de Parfum line by Frederic Malle, but that can be a bit too feminine for my liking (maybe its just too realistically floral). Still, what a wonderfully seductive rose!

In Paestum Rose, I get the same deep rose note, but it is layered in spice and incense, with a woodsy dry-down. I've owned it now for several months, and have not tired of it at all.

Fragrances from Eau d`Italie are all great! I had difficult to choose from Paestum Rose and Bois d`Ombrie.. I ended up with Bois d`Ombrie and Sienne I`Hiver.

Not for me, but it's first class. Deserving of of 4 or 5 stars fur shure.

I didn't like it when I first tried it, quite the opposite of most of you guys. I thought it was a little dull and ordinary, especially side-by-side some other roses scents. I really love it now, it's actually very complex. It sort of smells ancient, like rose petals in an old cedar chest. The rose variant is turkish, which reminds me of a popular turkish dessert I eat in the summer with rose water. Kind of funny, actually.

This was love at first sniff for me. I seem to get a real boost from myrrh, and that is what makes this one sing, IMO.
