New replies to old blog posts?

If I reply to and old blog post, does this get flagged anywhere? i.e. does the blog writer get a notification? Is there a list anywhere which says " new reply on xxxxxx post"...

Is there any chance of anyone noticing if i add something to and older blog post or is it a waste of time??/

I've never seen any such notification, but when I check my blog it shows the most recent comments in the Recent Comments box on the left side. Aside from that I haven't noticed any other...notices.
