Your top 5 winter and fall fragrances

Thread Starter
The summer fragrance thread inspired me to come up with my own top 5 lists for fall and winter, too. I'm sure this thread has been done many times before, but top fives change all the time, no?

Several of these could go either way.

Fall:
Sean John Unforgivable Multi-Platinum
Gucci Nobile
Paco Rabanne XS
Creed Green Irish Tweed
Gucci II

Winter:
Tommy Bahama
Bulgari Black
Thierry Mugler Angel Men Pure Malt
Terre d'Hermes
Versace Dreamer

Honorable mention:
Aramis Havana
Rive Gauche
Azzaro Visit
Burberry London
Rochas Man
Michael Kors

Yeah, it's not like the summer fragrance thread is something brand new either. Basenotes is probably the only forum I'm aware of that doesn't get down on people for posting the "same" threads.

I got rid of the images since they were taking up so much space.

Now it's Martini time!

Fall: (it's still in the mid to upper 60's to low 70's in the fall here in CA)
Bulgari Aqua
Terre d'Hermes
Kenzo Power
Geir Ness
Dolce & Gabanna PH

Winter: (I suppose I consider it "winter" now since it's between 32-55 degrees here from Dec to early Feb)
Rochas Man
Hanae Mori
Bulgari Black
Versace Dreamer
Dior Homme

Out of all these listed, Terre d'Hermes, Kenzo Power, Geir Ness, Dior Homme, and Versace Dreamer are wearable for both seasons. However, Geir Ness and Versace Dreamer seems to survive the best in colder weather than the other 3 on me.

Nice choices. I like Tauer LDDM and Serge Lutens Chergui, the former pretty much anytime other than extreme heat, say over 75 F, and Chergui when it gets lower than 60.

But, without trying to hijack this thread, I need some thoughts about these scents for fall/winter

Maison Francis Kurkdjian - wanting to try this line, and the two I think are the Cologne pour Le Soir and the Absolu pour le Soir. I am worried about longevity, projection and in the cologne reviews, the cologne is said to be powdery.

Frapin - Caravelle Epicee and 1270. 1697 is coming out in a toilette and is said to be the most boozy, and 1270 is maybe going to be too foody.

Dior Leather Oud - I dont do leather much, but wow, I am tempted to think outside the box. With Histoires de Parfums 1740 Sade being a lot of plum/immortale, this leather may do it, as Lonestar Memories, Bulgari Black, Creed Royal English Leather, Chanel CUir de Russie, all of those did not do it.

Id like the 'new'scent for fall not to really overlap Chergui or LDDM and Coromandel. I love how two sprays of any of these project and really wow me for 6 hours or more.

When I think of fall and winter I think it's time for the orientals to come out, and join the fray.
Giorgio
Stetson
Obsession
Guess by Marciano
Armani Code
of course 1 Million, and Joop.

I also picked up L'Anarchiste and L'Instant Extreme recently, but haven't been able to try either out yet as they have been set aside as part of my Christmas presents from my family. Cannot wait to try these on Christmas Day, as I'm hoping they will be perfect winter scents.

If you are worried about longevity, then your choice is Absolue pour le Soir: crazy longevity and nuclear sillage. 1 spray (2 sprays max I would say) under the shirt, and you are good to go. After 12 hours (on me at least), it still smells strong, no joke.

However be warned, the fragrance is polarizing. It has an animalic opening that turns many people off, and it blossoms rather slowly, drying down into a rich and gorgeous honey, probably the best I have ever smelled.

I _love_ AplS but you should definitely try before you buy.

If you have never tried Stetson it's pretty cheap so even if you don't like it you're not out much money. It is a floral oriental, and it's far to cloying for warm days. It doesn't smell like cowboys or anything like that in fact in the 20's or 30's it might have been considered feminine.

I see people listing M7, and I agree. I failed to mention Egoiste.

Also, the cologne Kirdijian, I guess it smells less intense? The description of it at luckyscent makes it seem a much less intense, weaker scent.
