[member pics] You and your Christmas tree

Not to take away from the member's pics thread, but I thought it would be nice to have a seasonal thread with pine trees!
So I'll start the ball rolling. Merry Christmas everyone!

Many trees make a forest, and many holiday faces of Basenote folk will make me happy!
Ody, you look so handsome and debonair in front of your lovely Christmas tree! I like that you have Christian symbols on it, too. It isn't just a "holiday" tree.

I don't have a picture for you. We don't put a tree up because we go away. I did manage to put a wreath on the door. I made it myself. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture of myself in front of it and post it for you. But if I look too awful to myself maybe I won't! Lately, when I see photos of myself it's like I'm looking at a ghost of myself from Christmas Future. Who is that person...is that...me? Ack! Run!!!

lilybelle, you have a keen eye. I teach courses on religion, so I collect symbols for my tree.
I'd love to see a picture of the wreath you made, with you in it! Please consider this your personal invitation! I'm sure I'm not alone here. Don't fret, we always are our own harshest critics.
Christmas cheer, ody.
Here are two shots of our tree at different angles I took with my Blackberry....will get a real photo during the day. It's a 12 foot Frasier Fir and my house smells divine- I thought of you Ody as piney deliciousness wafted throughout.

Our poor tree stand is barely holding on so we are on tree tip alert at all times Thank goodness the cat is old now and doesn't climb up Christmas trees anymore- ah those were good times

Very nice, 3x! We all look forward to further photos, with your smiling face of course! The tree plus thee.
I saw this tree two years ago and had to have one.

Here's our tiny tree! We were so excited about this new apartment's vaulted ceilings, thinking we'd be able to get a big ol' tree, but the square footage is much smaller and we had to move a few things around just to get this one in. I'm soooo ready to be a homeowner! *waits patiently for my sweetheart to finish school*

I absolutely LOVE that tree!! Do you have the Vince Guaraldi Trio Charlie Brown Christmas cd to listen to while you, um, decorate it

Sunnyfunny, your kitty is so cute & fluffy!! Adorable!
Ody, I helped make chrismons for our church Christmas tree. I was looking for a pic of it, but I can't find one. We made them with pearl and gold toned beads in the shape of fish this year.

Here are my pics (you asked for it! I hope they're not ginormous)...

This is the wreath I assembled last year…

Here I am with Queenie the Uncooperative in front of our wreath...

She's mad at me for taking her picture...
What a great idea Ody!
Lilybelle, Sunnyfunny and Ody, your portraits and Christmas creations are gorgeous!

Ive just taken these pics today of our tree, a fave deco, and the fab heavy drift of snow outside our window. I will try and get one of my wife and myself to add to this post later.

3xasif, your tree is gorgeous too!!

Fabulous, Dimitri! I love the snowy scent [Freudian slip...I mean scene!] through your window...just like a snowglobe!
I adore you people.

I know this thread is especially about Christmas trees, but frankly, the sight of you, Ody, Sunny, Lilybelle, and peeking into your house, 3x, and into your funny mind, bluesoul (and thereby exquisitely me), all I can think about is what I feel: pure affection.

I've been thinking about taking a pic like this for for Ody ever since you talked about how only Siberia is colder than your neighborhood. This is how we celebrate the season, heat our house, keep our coffee hot, and, as you can see, warm our buns.

Sorry, no me in the pic. I have to learn how to set the timer on my camera.
Cross posting with fellow artistic soul Dimitri. Do love the nature of your photos, too.

These are all so great, so heart-warming. Keep 'em coming.
Lovely to see sunnyfunny and lilybelle.
Lilybelle, your wreath is stunning! As are you! I just want to hug you and your cuddly Queenie!!

Quarry that stove is awesome. Looks sooo cozy!

Dimitri, your tree is so fab. I love those white circle-y things and the colours of the lights. Stunning. And as usual, your photos are just postcard perfect!

My favourite photog, my daughter Emilie, took some neat pics on tree decorating night. Christmas sweater alert! Haha, my girls love their holiday sweaters

( Note in Em's lovely self portrait little sister Biddy doing her best in the background to ruin the shot LOL.)

The official Christmas tree is at my mother's and it's always big and filled with lots of angels. Might post a pic later.

At home we have this ecological variation!

What fabulous photos people ! I love them all- Lilybelle,3xasif, Ody, Sunnyfunny, Dimitri - all your trees are lovely ! You all put a smile on my face. Thanks for that !
Everyone's pictures look great!

I particularly love Dimitri's - seeing snow off in the background is just so wonderful. You and your wife are so stylish. Even your friggin tree is fashionable.

I will take some pictures of my tree in a couple days - Ray and I are still getting the house ready for Xmas Eve at our house with the family and it's currently a BIG mess. But our tree is just beautiful.

Haha - it took me a moment... I love those discreet red star lights Baldufita! And I see well out of reach from "prying hands"!
Hehe... Discreet is what they are, although DH has been looking for some Christmas decorations that we could use without compromising DD's safety (and ours for that matter)... Mission failed...
Because I have no Christmas Tree and the Crib I ordered isn't here yet, I leave you with the next best thing in Christmas decorations... Enjoy!!!

Very nice cookies, I'd happily munch some. And Ken_Russell, I like the blue garland and ornaments on your tree.

Here's some pics of the tree and the house, made up all nice & pretty, for Xmas Eve dinner at my house with my family and friends out on the backyard deck.

I will post a pic of me in front of the tree a bit...I can't seem to find that one on my computer (!?)
Mike - I just LOVE your pics - so much style ! Lovely big pile of gifts, gorgeous tree, card presentation , stockings, that lovely wreath with the saying beneath it ( now who else would have thought of that ! ) and CAKE - it looks delicious ! Simply lovely Mike ! Your house is so well kept too . Thanks for sharing.
Mike, I can only say that both your Christmas tree and your house are the purest form of great style and that they look just simply festive, I bet during any period of the year. Congrats on these wonderful pics!

Darkdreams, your tree is so cozy and nice.
Baldufita, that is such a cute nativity scene -- like a giant cookie!
and mike, total agreement on the super style.
Wonderful pics, everyone!
Darkdreams, Ken and Baldufita, your tree/decoration pics are awesome! Is that a marzipan nativity scene Baldufita?

MIKE! Im so pleased you took all my valuable advice and direction on how to decorate your home for the holidays! You done well!

LOL! Just kidding :-D Talk about stylish! Its bloody gorgeous! I want to come stay at yours and Ray's next year!
Thanks everyone - I cannot take credit for most of the decorating, most of it has been done by Ray. He (of course with Dimitri's strong-handed art direction LOL) really is the one with the eye for decorating. Our house always looks amazing, all throughout the year. I apparently, didn't get that 'gene'.

The picture of me in front of the tree is in my cousin's camera and he is out of town, so I'll post it when he sends it to me.

In the meantime here's a picture of one of the presents that was under my tree Xmas morning (from a dear architect friend). Isn't it just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?

Oh and Dimitri, Ray says that you can come over and stay at our house any time you like. (wink, wink)
Goodness, what lovely holiday photos from everyone. Absolutely wonderful and so joyous.
Great pics everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday!

3xasif - Such beautiful daughters you have! Hope you had a great Christmas!
Baldufita - Looking good! I made tons of cookies this year! Peanut Butter Temptations, Chocolate Crinkles, Walnut Kiffels, Sugar, Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal White Chocolate & Dried Cranberry, Nut Tossies, and Cutouts. I was quite a busy man
mikeperez23 - Wow! What a gorgeous setup! I love Florida immensely, it's so beautiful down there. Even more so when it's winter and only 9 degrees out here like it is right now

The outside is a carabaça, or Brazilian pumpkin... The inside is modeling clay... But it really looks like marzipan, now that I've taken a closer look to it!!

LOL! OK, I'll start planning my holiday to Florida then, and shopping for a dirty big padlock for your guest room door!
Or, er, a Doberman...
No, all jokes aside - the whole setup is one of the most stylish I've seen. I particularly love those fab text transfers for the walls and the beautiful table settings! Respect, Ray!

Wow! It does look like marzipan! The Danes are marzipan-crazy at this time of year, so perhaps Im wearing my "marzipan glasses"(?). Still, its a very cute nativity!

Only the Danes? You haven't meet any Spaniard yet...

@Mike: gosh, who's your interior architect???? I'm in awe... Really... I haven't seen such a beautiful house and decor in my life... o_O

I'm pretty mad about marzipan myself. And yes, Mike's & Ray's house is lovely! It looks so clean and stylish - like a pottery barn catalog. I really love it. I'm a bit of a clutterbug, myself, and tend to be interior decorating challenged. As long as I have loads of bookshelves, though, I'm happy.

Here are some more holiday pics to add to our thread. These are at my mom’s home in Florida, so she did the decorating. At our home in Virginia I basically just threw a wreath on the door before we left for Florida. I got off easy. I don’t have many photos in which people’s eyes aren’t red, or closed, or crossed.

Here’s the tree. All silver this year, with white stuff sprayed on to look like snow. It was a bit brighter than the pic shows…

Here’s our table on Christmas Eve. My mother enjoys her red Christmas roses and likes to make everything dressy-uppy…

Here’s my mother. I think she has chocolate on the corner of her mouth.

Here I am with my dog, who looks like she’s more interested in something else that’s going on, probably food related…

Here’s my husband (on the right) and a friend. I think dinner was almost over. We had drunk and eaten a lot, so we were ready to get up and move around. It was warm on Christmas Eve, but we had had some very cool weather prior to that.

We had roast goose (two gooses, that is, I mean geese!) this year. Here is another friend doing the carving…
post #51 of 70
Oh my Gosh!! Your mother is a gorgeous woman (chocolate included!)!! But you know the saying... So daughter, so mother!!!

Gracious, people (I'm especially mesmerized by the elaborate photos from Mike and Lilybelle) when I grow up, I hope to entertain like you!
Monsieur Lilybelle est très charmant aussi!

When Ray and I renovated our home we had an architect do the plans, but most of the interior decoration is all done by my husband Ray. Yes, he is quite masterful at making the house look incredible, isn't he? One of his many charms.

Mike - I like those bird on a wire paintings above the fireplace. I believe I saw them somewhere else. They're quite famous aren't they? Do you know the story behind them?

They're by Roy Barloga, the title of the piece is 'Visual Music'. Ray and I bought them this summer in Provincetown. Thanks - we love them too. More info: http://www.barlogastudios.com/default4.asp

Ody, you look so handsome and radiant. I didn't get to attend Christmas Eve service, unfortunately. I couldn't gracefully extricate myself from the dinner party in time, but the church my husband and I visited on Christmas morning had such a nice nativity scene at the front of the church in front of the altar, I had to take a picture. Here it is. I hope I'm not offending anybody by posting it. And I guess I've now gone pic-posting mad. The service was lovely. The nice thing about Florida is you get real palm trees in the nativity scenes.

Actually, the picture doesn't do it much justice. And now that I look at it, it's kind of comical. I guess you had to be there.
