I want all three, really! If I go by intended order of purchase:

Sycomore (own already)
Vetiver Tonka (own a mini, want a full bottle SOON)
Vetiver Extraordinaire (just have a sample, would love to own a full bottle one of these days)

Chanel Sycamore.

I am surprised to see Sycomore outgunning Malle's Vetiver Extraordinaire in this recommendation thread.

I've only tested Sycomore once and found it extremely similar to Encre Noire. Both exhibit appalling longevity, at least on my skin. Needless to say, why would I want to spend 3 times the money on Sycomore.

Vetiver Extraordinaire is a very pungent vetiver. Perhaps it comes from the 25% vetiver content used in its formulation. I get a sour smell in the top notes (some basenoters have called it a 'wet towel smell'). However this smells of unadulterated Vetiver. It's like the a 'plain vetiver' fragrance. Its longevity is a bit tricky on my skin. Somedays I can smell it after a long day, in the evening but on other days it vanishes after 3-4 hours. Overall a nice vetiver fragrance, though it's a bit expensive.

I think you need to try all 3 to choose which one works the best for you.
My vote goes to VE.

I tried Vetiver Extraordinaire....and just bought a bottle recently. I have been loving it so far. I tested Vetiver Tonka...last week....and think it is equally good. I have been hearing the good comments about Sycomore and I am just flusterd.......I am confused!!!!

Agreed! Except on the longevity. I get great longevity.. due in part to my skin

I disagree with simply lumping Encre Noire and Sycamore into the same boat. Sure there are similarities, especially in the way they interpret the vetiver note. But Sycamore is clearly of higher quality, smoother, smokier, and ever so slightly sweeter. While I love Encre Noire, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Sycamore as well.

Well.. I compare it to Green Irish Tweed. Is it somewhat similar to Cool Water? Yes.. but not enough close in quality. I far prefer Green Irish Tweed but could never afford it so I make due with what I can.

Of course, the OP must have enough if it's an option so he could very well get it. Me on other hand, find Encre Noire a suitable substitute. Replacement? Not at all. The quality could be lower as well but the price is also around 130$ less. Just my 2 cents

Another vote for Vetiver Extraordinaire due to its longevity and projection.

Ditto. Love it´s green aspects. VE is nice, too, and VT is tonka all the way - no vetiver in sight!
