Profumum Acqua di Sale is by far my favorite.

I'm a big fan of Bulgari scents (40% of my collection) but Bulgari Aqua Marine smells like Davidoff Cool Water a la Bulgari to me.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but so unimaginative. Not Cavallier's finest moment by far.

Hi basenote-members

I'm looking for a nice aquatic scent (except: Aqua di gio, bulgari aqua, dolce and gabbana light blue, Versace PH, l'eau d'issey) do u have some ideas?

Thanks

Givenchy Pour Homme Blue Label is a great twist on the aquatic genre - it's much "woodier" than most aquatics. Nautica Voyage is also a very nice more floral aquatic sort of along the lines of Bulgari Aqua Marine.

Unforgivable.

L'eau par Kenzo

Ineke Derring Do and M. Micallef Avant Garde.

Davidoff Silver Shadow Altitude is another option. Decent sillage and longevity. It's quite nicely blended too. A very underrated aquatic here on BN.

I'm looking for something like a "clean aquatic"

Jil Sander Sander for Man
Guy Larouche Horizon

.....not really "clean" aquatics, but try them nevertheless. If you want to smell clean, wear :

Geir Ness
Bijan Nude
Bulgari pour Homme
Thierry Mugler Mugler Cologne

None are "aquatics"...but they give off the nice clean scent you seem to be looking for.

Hugh Parsons Blue
The Blu Mediterraneo line by Acqua di Parma (not all of the frags are aquatics, but they surely have included some aquatic creations too)

Calypso Christian Celle Calypso Marine is my favorite.

Nautica Voyage is indeed pretty nice.

Gai Mattiolo Uomo is also a nice scent, although I am not sure that it can be labelled "aquatic".
It smells clean though.

Magnolia Romana by Eau d' Italie

I've worn it 3 days straight. Perfect summer fragrance, an aquatic with a green-floral twist. Don't be misled by the name, it is a perfectly unisex offerring; starts off like the flower and then it becomes the whole garden and the pond. A real essay in development, but never loud.

If you can, sample Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil and Un Jardin apres la Mousson. Neither is a straightforward "aquatic" i.e. calone scent by a longshot, but both give off a quirky, watery vibe. Nil is like an aquatic oriental with unripe green mango, soft incense, citrus, and lotus. Mousson is lush and wet with ginger, cucumber, and MELON(s) along with some green notes that make me think of a warm, steamy rainstorm. Both are definitely "clean" scents but not stereotypically so.

It gets no cleaner or more aquatic than L'Eau Par Kenzo Pour Homme. It is literally what gourmet pool chlorine would smell like, if there were such a thing.

Not so! While I agree L'eau Par Kenzo is a great and clean aquatic (although rather lemony), the cleanest and purest aquatic I've come across is in fact Wicken 3000 by Six Scents. It smells, quite literally, of fresh sea air, with the texture and smoothness of water. A tiny hint of bergamot lasts well into the scent, but it is far less orangey than say, Erolfa. There is a subtle but ever present salty note, too. The 'purest' aquatic next to the rather realistic Bulgari Aqua, imo.

Of course, Erolfa is a great option when it comes to aquatics. I highly recommend checking out both of these.

Bond No. 9 Wall Street is one of the best aquatics that I've stumbled across.
The primary problem of most aquatics is that they all have poor longevity but this one has tonnes of sillage and just refuses to die down.

If longevity is not an issue than Creed Millesime Imperial & Creed Erolfa are magnificent summer scents too.

Montana pour homme *blue box* is an extremely cheap lemony/musky scent that gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

Does MI really have that bad of longevity?

It's appalling on me but you'd find a few members (in the minority) here who have better luck with it.

Aqva Pour Homme Marine (Bvulgari) is a good option, is light and sweet, with a floral character very agreeable.

L'Eau Par Kenzo pour Homme... undescribable fresh, after gym I spray 2 puffs on my chest, I feel like I'm surrounded by water in a chilly place surrounded by lemon trees. Heck yeah.

+1000 on this one.

I was wondering what do you think is the best aquatic available.
There are so many option especially now when every flanker is either sport or aquatic.

I just want to make few exceptions here before people start to give their opinions.

I want to rule out few things

1. No Cool Water/ GIT - both are very popular and this thread will become focused on them.
2. No Armani AdG - Its a very popular one and this will become a hate it or love it thing.
3. No "Clean-soap" or "Sport" scents - I want to keep this just aquatics.

I find both Zegna Z and Versace Eau Fraiche to be somewhat similar, but im leaning towards Zegna Z. Its a very pleasant aquatic that isnt heavy on citrus which is a problematic note on my skin.

Another two aquatics that are overlooked imo are Dali Laguna and Kenzo PH
They arent the typical aquatics. Laguna is more an exotic/caribbean aquatic due to its sweetness.
Kenzo PH is not the typical "blend-in" aquatic. It reminds me the beach in Israel. Its salty and i get something a little "dirty" in it. Not animalistic dirty but more like natures own scents.

Calypso Christiane Celle Marine - hands down
post #113 of 148
^^ what he said.

Also:

Creed Erolfa
Bvlgari Aqua
Hermes Voyage (if you keep it in your pocket to re-apply every 7.5 minutes)

I'm also a fan of Zegna Z, however, an aquatic that I reach for quite a bit is Givenchy Blue Label.
Ocean Rain by Mario Valentino. Roudnitska does aquatic. 'Nuff said.
Two days ago, i saw many cheap unknown aquatics with good quality. Aquatics have big market, with many choices.
whenever you can have a good aquatic with just 15$ that it has better sillage and projection comparable Acqua Di Gio and Bvlgari Aqua, it's funny when we want to spend 50$ just for a Name!
I saw in Aquatics, most of people don't care if it's synthetic. in this category just freshness, sillage and projection are important.

Haven't tried this Zenga Z, but I don't really agree with Blue Label being an aquatic. To me it's more of a blue/floral/soapy mixture, with minimal projection. Slightly different in smell compared to the others it competes with, but ultimately boring and forgettable.

As far as what I think for aquatics, I gotta throw IZOD out there. It's like AdG kicked p a few notches. More emphasis on the fruits in the opening, fresh, aquatic and invigorating. Escada's Sunset Heat comes to mind as well, but it kind of weaves out of the aquatics and goes more into the tropical category. It's similar to IZOD imo, but even more vibrant. Paris Hilton is an exceptionally nice aquatic with a little bit of floral. Opens up with melons and cucumber, gets a little more floral in the heart and base, and lasts pretty long. Nothing smells quite like it either. Halston Unbound is good as well, but more so, an AdG alternative at an affordable price. Longevity isn't great on it either.
