"*DANCING * "What is loo- oo ov-e any way ? Does anybody love anybody any way ? "

Vlad- we should have a party together - Howard Jones, Demis Roussos, Kate Bush ....."

Thanks for the kind words, I'd be honored and also I would love to share more of my musical faves with you and all our dear fellow Basenoters.

I'm not sure if you'll like this genre of music, but you might like to check out my related thread, dedicated to Early Medieval/Renaissance/Baroque tunes, also within the off-topic section.

Now, moving on too a slightly gloomier, darker tune, which has the expected talent to cheer me up:

Someone needs to get this guy to do a film score, his work is so emotional and moving. You can listen to samples of the tracks on the albums microsite.

He will be coming to perform close to me in a few weeks and I think we might go!

Various Artists - Kompakt Pop Ambient 10

I'm sort of ho-hum about this one, it gets a bit too airy for me (DJ Koze & Popnoname tracks were a let down) but a huge bravo to Brock Van Wey and his epic 17 minute 'Will You Know Where To Find Me' as the end track to the compilation. Almost makes up for everything.

Same here. It's more ambient than pop compared to the last entry. I'm really enjoying this one.

GU NuBreed 005 mixed by Sander Kleinenberg

An oldie, but it effectively throws out a nasty groove.

Thanks for the heads up on the Kompakt Ambient Pop comp nsamadi - I almost forgot it was released today.

Let's Get Clinical (Clark Remix) by Maximo Park

Cannot. Stop. Listening. To. This. When Clark gets it right, he gets it right. Love this one!! You can listen here.

Glad you're enjoying the Guentner album NEoTY26 - it is on constant rotation in my car stereo.

Freaks - UMakeNoSense (Radio Slave Music For Freaks Remix)

I heard the Rekids mix Matt did for this and thought it was disgusting (stays true to the title track). I wasn't even going to give this a listen (digital only release), though I'm glad I did. Proper loopy club tech-house.

Landings by Richard Skelton

I really WANT to like Skelton's stuff. I like the themes of his recordings and I can feel the sadness underneath all of that brooding bowed strings...and I really respect his whole visual/artistic aesthetic realized via his record label. I mean just look at that packaging! Beautiful.

But honestly, his stuff just bores me.

Chic Gamine -You gotta hear the whole album, their style is all over the place, which I find intriguing, the vocals are incredible.

Heligoland by Massive Attack

I am a long time fan of MA, and I'm enjoying several tracks on this one. When they get it right, their marijuana-laced-bass grooves kind of fall apart in a wonderful way. There are a few tracks I don't like, but I am giving it more listens.

Thanks for posting the Radio1 Four Tet mix nsamadi - I recently started listening to more of his stuff. NEoTY26 introduced me to his Joy Orbison remixed track, 'Love Cry' - in a vocal-flecked dubstep style.

You're welcome CC. I hope you enjoy his style (and the other artists in his network) more than I do - he gets a bunch of critical acclaim so apparently his music speaks to many others.

Today I'm listening to this podcast from earlier this month:

Resident Advisor Podcast 188 by Terre Thaemlitz (DJ Sprinkles)

Love that wandering, sad/ambient opening that stretches across about 45 minutes - reminded me of some of those Kompakt compilations that are 1/2 ambient and 1/2 German underground techno. Except this one is sad through the entire mix. Reminded me of walking in the rain, in New York, on a Sunday evening.
