What's the best CREED Fragrance?

Thread Starter
Need your help in picking the best creed fragrance. I've heard alot on Bois de Portugal, but what does this smell like? Any comparisons? I need a knockout fragrance in my collection if creed doesn't do it for you. Suggestions?
In my opinion, Creed Bois de Portugal is one of the best, if not the best, Creed fragrance. It smells very mature and has a way above average lasting power, in my opinion combining a slightly Mediterranean citrus opening with a bit heavier, warmer and richer spicy Oriental notes, all this with a few mossy and somewhat musky notes in the drydown.

I have equal respect for:
#1's: Vintage Tabarome, GIT, Windsor, and Selection Verte

One tier down, I have equal respect for:
#2's: Royal Scottish Lavender, Green Valley, Millesime Imperial, EROLFA, and Bois Du Portugal

after those come:
#3's: Santal Imperial, Bois De Santal, Feuille Verte, and Baie De Genievre

There will be no consensus on which will be the best creed fragrance. I completely dislike BDP but enjoy Silver Mountain Water, Creed Milesime imperial, and Himalaya. Just about every Creed fragrance has its own fanbase.

Silver Mountain Water.

Right, I would never wear Bois Du portugal or Baie De Genievre by themselves, but i rated this as far as which I think are the best, regardless of if I choose to wear them.

And there could be a slight-edge consensus if we voted, but it wouldn't be any definitive answer.
Some will vote for favorites, some will vote for objective quality.
For instance, I wear Original Vetiver and Silver Mountain Water both regularly, but they don't hold the same esteem in my mind as the other CREED scents I've listed.

That's sort of like asking people for their favorite Beatles album.
Some people like them all.
Some people hate them on principal or content or reputation.
But ask 50 fans, and you may get 50 different top 5 lists.

And personally, I just don't understand this obsession with Creed as a brand.
And also, Abbey Road. Or Rubber Soul.

They are all stunning... some imo are not great... but it is just an opinion... SMW, GIT, MI, AA and BDP are my Favs
post #9 of 169
I would rank Vintage Tabarome at the top.
My top Three:

1) Selection Verte
2) Vetiver'48
3) Green Irish Tweed
The only two I would pay full retail for are Green Irish Tweed and Bois du Portugal
post #12 of 169
That's easy: Feuille Verte
the millesime line got me into creeds, but the eau de toilettes are absolutely stunning. make sure you can sample as many of those as you can.

BdP and Acier Aluminum are my favorites in the Creed line
post #17 of 169
GIT
MI
Himalaya
SMW
BDP
all stunning, I honestly can't choose one
post #18 of 169
Green Irish Tweed, Bois du Portugal, Millesime Imperial, Silver Mountain Water, and Neroli Sauvage are all candidates but it would be impossible for me to pick an outright winner.
if you like to smell good and like ladies, original santal easily. on the other hand, if you like to smell like cool water, by all means buy green irish tweed
post #20 of 169
i have owned GIT, SMW, Original Santal, Green Valley, Original Vetiver, Erolfa & Baie de Genievere in the past. of those 7 i only have Baie de Genievere now..sold/swapped the rest. although, i wouldnt mind buying Original Vetiver again.
1. Green Irish Tweed

MI and Vintage T
MI and Silver Mountain Water despite never really being into aquatics. I would like to try Original Vetiver and Green Valley though. Bois du Portugal sounds like it would go right over my head
post #25 of 169
My favorites include: Silver Mountain Water, Virgin Island Water, Erolfa... + a many more...

Depending on tastes, BdP may or may not be the thing for you, Ken_Russell's description is pretty much spot on.
Hi, my chart is as follows:

1. Vintage Tabarome (pure masculinity, grace, class, perfect sillage and longetivity),

2. Windsor (perfectly blended masterpiece, elegant, classy, uplifting and delicate),

3. Royal English Leather (leathery heaven, creamy, royal indeed, lasts forever),

4. Acier Aluminium (extremely original, disquieting, powerful, sinful-night symphony),

5. Selection Verte (supernatural, refreshing, green minty-citrus pleasure).

Only Creed scent that could make some disorder on that list is Feuille Verte, which I haven't smelled yet.

Revolver
The best advice is to get yourself a lot of Creed samples and decide for yourself what you prefer and what you don't.
I myself do not like Creed, but Bois de Bortugal is so great.
Haven`t tried all of them, but my favourites are: -Tabarome, Erolfa, Millesime Imperial, and Santal Imperial
post #31 of 169
GIT. Hands down. Himalaya, OV, Bois de Cedrat and Royal Water are tolerable. The rest that I have tried is just plain crap (IMHO)!
Virgin Island Water
Himalaya
Silver Mountain Water
Now:

Royal Delight
Silver Mountain Water
Green Irish Tweed
Original Vetiver

To Test:

Bois du Portugal
Royal English Leather
Best Creed?

For me it has to be Cuir De Russie.

Smokey Citrus Leather.

Selection Verte is the best one I've tried so far. It's a pity its longevity isn't substantial.
If a hunter was every trying to catch me he would just have to spray SMW on a tree

That is really good stuff. I'm wearing a bit of it just now actually. It's still pretty strong after two hours.

Agree, but it isn't readily accessible!

I think the OP should get a bunch of samples and figure out what he likes best.
Windsor or Acier Aluminum love them both.

I've only really tried the Millesimes, but for me it's BdP, GIT, Neroli Sauvage, VIW and the hugely underrated Green Valley.

Apart from Erolfa, which I dislike, and Royal Delight, which actually makes me heave, the others are ok but I wouldn't buy them.
Windsor, Original Vetiver, Néroli Sauvage are my top three from Creed.
1. Windsor
2. Vintage Tabarome
3. Green Irish Tweed

We must have similar tastes, because Erolfa and Royal Delight both make my stomach turn! As you can see in my sig, I have several favorite Creeds. No disrespect intended to those who like Erolfa and Royal Delight, but they emit vomit-inducing reactions every time I sniff them! I haven't tried the newer Erolfa but the salt/brine in the older Erolfa is just too much.

My kingdom for 1 ounce of Feuille Verte! Aahh.... I feel better now.

The best Creed fragrance is the one that capturs your imagination the most.

Asking a question like this on a board that has several hundred active members, you will end up with just about every Creed being mentioned at one point or another.
People love to not say Green Irish Tweed, simply because it's so mainstream. But, I'm not afraid to admit.. GIT is simply one of the best fragrances ever made; it's inoffensive, lasts long, smells completely unsynthetic, and is more versatile than anything else on the market.

very true. i just got a fresh ('09) bottle and it has renewed my love. what i love most is the JOURNEY! Unlike Original Vetiver, which smells great, but is so linear and dull.... GIT smells like 3 different colognes over the course of 5 hours. So fresh at first, so sweet and sultry during the middle, so gentle and cloying at the end.

a work of art.

Wah? lol
Perhaps he meant "gentle and non-cloying." Anyway, the best thing to do here is sample first. These are expensive fragrances that can vary greatly from one another. It is really not too smart to blind buy them. And if you like their "old school" type frags, such as BdP, this doesn't mean you won't like something along the lines of Pheromone for Men by Miglin better, and that one is much less expensive and has ingredients that are at least as strong and as high quality.
Bois du Portugal is one of the few creeds I never had the chance to smell. Regarding the ones I've tried, I can honestly say that Tabarome Millesime, Original Santal, Millesime Imperial, Green Irish Tweed, are among my favorites, the others have terrible longevity/sillage so they're not worth my attention.

You want a knock-off fragrance that isn't creed? Go for Bleecker Street Bond No. 9
post #55 of 169
I hope this has cleared things up for you, smur1ll0. I think we've made ourselves clear.
Ask one hundred people you will get one hundred answers. What I like, you may say smells like sewer water. I only own two Creeds, GIT, and Royal Water. GIT smells wonderful, but only lasts about four hours for me. Royal Water smells wonderful, and I put it on sixteen hours ago and still smelling good. For the record though, I only have decants of the two, I have read a lot about GIT lasting longer from the bottle.

Isn't this a bit of a contradiction? Are you sure you meant to say cloying?

d'oh! yes, forgot the "non", obviously...

Differences of the new and "old" bottle of Erolfa: The new bottle has fresher, more citrusy top-notes, and weaker longevity than the old bottle. The old bottle is more salty, spicy, and "dirty" with great sillage and staying-power. Smells like real rugged and salty sea/sea-breeze. The basenotes are similar. Love, love, love the smell!
