Chanel Cuir de Russie

Thread Starter
I love leather notes and am looking to sample Cuir de Russie by Chanel. I understand that this is a very elegant unisex leather, and some say powder notes.

Can any of you gentlemen give me your opinions on the EDT v. the EDP and add any other observations? I'd be very grateful. The poll is in the women's threads...

There's no EDP, just the EDT in the Les Exclusifs bottle, and a smaller, slightly cheaper parfum. It's less leathery than you'd expect, especially the EDT, with big aldehyde and iris notes alongside its classic, elegant waxy leather.

It's on the feminine side of unisex in either concentration IMO. But it's so gorgeous that I find it very difficult to resist wearing on occasion.

I agree

+1 on both "not very leathery" and "not very masculine".

I'd add "not very naughty" as well, despite its reputation for being a scandalous fragrance. It is indeed kind of a poop-fest, but not in a particularly challenging way. In fact, the concept that comes to mind is "a fragrance for ladies who lunch."

Of the Chanel scent collections , I find the Cuir De Russie and Sycamore the best. Cuir de Russie on me actually smells very masculine , and the girls love it , my fiancee couldnt stop sniffing me once lol. It really takes you to another time and space. A fall evening in the 1930s in Paris with a beautiful aristocratic woman by your side

Fantastic fragrance. Smells very masculine on me.

I am enjoying this very much. Been wearing it for 2 days already.

It reminds me of a softer Knize 10 but without the harsh chemical (leather treater) smell which is in Knize 10 . Instead it has been replaced by stronger floral notes making it sweeter and more sensual.

It is elegant slightly feminine but very masculine in other ways. Does this make sense ?

I have the EDT.
