I want to buy a YSL scent.

What is the most complex scent by YSL (not linear)?

Opium (the feminine)

What makes the feminine more complex than the masculine?

Opium
Kouros
M7

M7.

imo M7
I've gotta give it to Opium (PH) on this one...But I haven't experienced much of the women's collection. All of their older scents (before 2004 or so) were very complex by my nose.
Yeah, another vote for M7

I enjoy Opium PH very much, but I find the original YSL PH to be very complex; PH continually reveals different colors of lemon, green, and woodiness. (But I was expecting to see Live Jazz mentioned here in answer to the OP question.)

Kouros or M7

Opium (women's), by far.

My answer as well.

YSL Pour Homme Haute Concentration. this one is even harder than Kouros to understand not to mention wear. I wore it countless times and still my feeling towards it were mixed. In the end I swapped it with another member because I knew he would be able to appreciate it more than me.

I don't find any of the YSL fragrances particularly linear. In some cases, too sweet, and therefore not to my liking (i.e. La Nuit de L'Homme) But not linear.
Some of my favorite scents come from this house. None of them are overly complex, nor simplistic. I would say Kouros is probably the most "complex" of the scents. It is a masterpiece that I can't stand smelling. Kouros is one of the very few fragrances that I get a true gag reflex from smelling at first sniff. It is also one of the most well-crafted scents I've ever smelled.

Some YSL masculines are self assured, others are non-apologetic, but complex? That said, ...

Kouros.

Its evolution is the most noticeable of the YSLs, IMO. Many comments also indicate that the drydown is very good, compared with the howling-Banshee, men's-room opening. THAT is some progression. But then, Kouros is my favourite.

Indeed. Kouros is an incredible journey from beginning to end.

Another vote for Kouros, the opening still confuses me and the drydown is just wonderfull. It is however an aquired taste. I hated this the first time i smelled it, but somehow i kept coming back to it. Now it is one of my favorites

My choice is M7

Kouros scares me. I think I'll get a sample first.

I tested it at perfumania and got that pink urinal cake note, lol. It was on a test strip. I should try it a few days on my skin.

Kouros. i loved it since first sniff, 25 years ago, and it is still my all time favorite.

Rive Gauche- for its subtle, timeless simplicity
Oopium Eau d'Orient- some of the most lush, non-generic and daring Orientals around
M7- not my favorite, yet I admire it for its extremely modern and non-generic harmonies

M7 and Opium for men

Kouros!! An animalic frenzy! Sweaty, dirty and yet contradicting with clean and fresh notes! amazing!

evocative of the finest summonings!

For the love of God, don't make me come to each of your homes with a bottle of YSL's Opium homme eau de parfum to show you what is truly one of this house's best offerings especially with regards to complexity. I dare say that the difficulty in finding the Opium edp at fragrance stores in North America has kept this from being one of YSL's premier men's fragrances.

This is what you wear when you grow up.

The way it evolves on skin. The strong diffusion all around you when you wear it. The very long lasting and tenacious dry down.

Sample the EdT and/or the parfum (the EdP is a bit too much for me).

Kouros, it's complex times 5
another vote for Kouros
I would have to say Kouros, the development is just amazing. It transforms from a animalistic-dirty- gritty scent (yes it kinda smells like urinal cakes and sweaty sex too but not for the whole length of the scent) to a clean, soapy and incredibly pleasing aroma. I really can not think of a fragrance that changes so drastically. It is really a pretty amazing scent IMO.

YSL isn't about being complex. All of my YSL favorites --Body Kouros, M7, Rive Gauche PH---they're all simple scents, and I think there's something to say for that. If you want complex, pick up some AMen or something

i like that answer, definitely have to get my nose around that

M7.
Kouros is the most complex followed by Opium PH edp. I have never tried the original Opium.
I don't understand all the votes for M7.
To me it is a rather dull and flat scent.
anything launched before 2004
The most complex in my opinion is the original Opium.
For men, Opium pour homme.

Kouros and Opium for women

More votes for Opium (women's) and Kouros.

Kouros

What? No one has mentioned Jazz? Very reasonably priced, but still interesting!
Opium wins this thread. Anyone who's smelled Opium in parfum wouldn't be voting for bloody M7 or Rive frickin' Gauche.

Kouros runs a close second. Seriously, what didn't they put in that thing? (It's fresh! No, wait, it's sweaty. Fecal? Musky, definitely. Is that coriander? Wow, nice incense. Hey, there's cumin! And ambergris! And...wow, that's a lot of clove. Hm, a bit leathery now. And...lemon? Rose? Something like rose, I swear to God. Oh, it's gone. And now...is that camphor? I...I'm just going to lie down for a bit. My nostrils are spinning.)
Of the masculines I've sampled, I'd say Jazz Prestige. I can't say if Kouros was more complex because I found it so vile that I couldn't focus on it. For JP:

"Top notes are coriander, lavender, green notes, fruity notes, pepper, nutmeg flower, anise and bergamot; middle notes are carnation, cypress, ginger, cinnamon, jasmine, caraway, rose and geranium; base notes are leather, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, benzoin, coconut, oakmoss and cedar."

Where is the tobacco, which is obviously there? LOL.
