Need help finding this type of cologne

hello all! new here after reading for months and months on cologne notes and topics in the forum.

I few years ago one of my managers at work wore this amazing smelling cologne. It reminded me a lot of Abercrombie Fierce in the sense that it was strong strong but it had amazing sillage... definitley a fresh scent. It was the type of cologne that you could smell it when you were next to him but you could smell it in his leaving trail.

Maybe finding this exact cologne would be impossible. But I guess my question is: Is there anything that you might know of that fits the bill.

I tried L'eau D'issey at Macy's thinking that was it, and it wasn't. Same with Le Male.

I have a heightened suspicion it may be Clinique Happy for Men; why? I don't know. Does that fit the bill of a fresh scent (like Fierce)?

any help would be so appreciated!

Hello Brandino and welcome to basenotes!!

It is not much to go off of just knowing that it smells like Fierce because that is such a common smell, but I have some suggestions for you that you may find to be better than what you smelled!

You might want to try:

ADP Colonia (and Colonia Assoulta)
Azzaro Chrome
212 (and varriants)
Bvlgari Blu (extreme as well)

Those are plenty for now to try out. See if you can find a match. Good luck!

To answer your question, yes Clinique Happy for Men is a fresh scent. Why not go and sample it ?

A characteristic and original marine note is blended with lime and mandarin. Transparent flowers stay in the background to give room to ethereal scents of cedarwood, lignum vitae and cypress.

top notes
Marine Note, Lime, Mandarin, Green Note

heart note
Freesia, Lily of the valley, Rose, Jasmine

base note
Cypress, Musk, Cedarwood, Gaïac wood

It was really strong but it still had amazing sillage? There are only a few scents out there like that. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until:

Wow, now I've got it. I'd tell you, but I think you already know... I have a sneaking suspicion you are really just foetidus trying to perplex us with a riddle - your skills of description are almost equal.

If it reminded you of Fierce then it may have been Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

Wow... haha! I guess that didn't make too much sense. I ment his trail was subtle but pronounced but being right up to him you wouldn't have noticed a scent.

But... I think you kind of knew what I was talking about you just couldn't resist being so "cute". Got to love jobs that allow us to nit pick forums posts.
