Rainy Day Frangrances

Thread Starter
It's been really rainy here and it made me start thinking about certain fragrances that I prefer in wet weather. I have been going for 212 men often in the rain because I feel like the watery-green scent goes well with the conditions, but I don't know if my other frags very appropriate for wet weather. Do you consider the weather when choosing the SOTD? If so what do you like in cold rainy weather vs. summer rainy weather?

I love Heritage when it's a bit cold and rainy...

Cold & rainy for me = Burberry London

Warm & rainy = Kenzo Power

For me, weather conditions do not dictate the scent I choose or wear.

Cold and rainy - very fond of Must de Cartier pour Homme. Bvlgari Blue (blv?) works in rainy weather, too.

For me the rainy days when I pick Caron's Third Man are made fantastic.

I have always found that Geir by Geir Ness is a wonderful rainy day scent.....Romance Silver, Purple Label and Bleecker Street are also wonderful to me on a rainy day.....Why I do not know.....Something that I have discovered on rainy days!!!

Thumbs up to warm orientals. My bottle of Comme des Garcons and my bottle of vintage Poison Esprit - more oriental and less floral than the modern variety - are probably what got the most wearing this cold season.

I remember once trying to wear a couple dewy scents - Oltre and En Passant - on a chilly wet day and found that they rather amplified the feeling of damp cold rather than fitting in with it!

My go to on rainy days has been Bvlgari Aqva. I got my bottle of 212 in the mail this week, and can totally see it as a rainy day scent too. But more of a warm rainy day. It's been cold this week, and the projection of it hasnt been nearly as good as when I sampled it from a tester when it was warmer.

A few weeks ago I saw a lady with a light blue Dumbo umbrella with ears that actually projected from the sides and a trunk that projected about a foot ahead. It was so funny that I totally forgot about how cold and rainy it was.

From now on, I plan to use beautiful/playful fragrances when it rains to add a little sunshine to my and others' day.

Cold rainy day: Fleur du Male
Warm rainy day: Monsieur Balmain

+1 on that. The best frag for cool / cold rainy days IMO.

For a warm rainy day, I'd go with Escada Magnetism.

A light spritzing of L'Artisan Tea for Two is a perfect accompanyment to a cool, rainy day. A good book, delicious munchies and relaxing with all at hand on a favorite sofa across from a nice log fire go a long way toward pure enjoyment

Well, I don't agree - on warm rainy days or humid summer days, scent projection is much greater, due to the moisture in the air. I take this into account. I tend to go with a lighter, greener fragrance on humid days.

Of course, in New England, we have a ways to go before we get warm and humid...

It's cold and rainy here today and I can say L' Anarchiste fills the bill just fine!

I hardly ever consider the weather while choosing a SOTD. However, I tend to wear during rainy weather (both during cold and warm seasons) far more leathery, smooth citrus and gourmand, than any other kind of frags.

Yes, I consider the weather. Equipage is one of my rainy day choices.

I remember reading somewhere that Mitsouko is a 'rainy day' fragrance, and I can agree with that. Especially vintage juice...it's much darker and has that wet-green-bite running through it.

On a cold/cool rainy day I use Horizon by Guy Laroche. On a summer rainy day I would probably go with Eau Sauvage by Christian Dior.

basically spicy, woody, smoky fragrances work well on a cold rainy day or night. I have worn Gucci PH many times when it was cold and rainy and it felt just right.

Burberry London, Grey Flannel and Guerlain Vetiver are among my choices for rainy days.

Cold/rainy days- Rochas Man
Warm/rainy days- Bond No 9 Wall Street

Cold and Rainy:

Rocabar
L'Occitane Vetyver

Vintage Tabarome
Jacomo de Jacomo

And, like Hasupk said, just about any oriental

Warm and rainy?

Erolfa or Himalaya
Annick Goutal Vetiver
Cuba by Czech & Speake
Blenheim Bouquet

And just about any '80s Powerhouse you fancy.

Cheers,

Mario

For me there is none so warm and comforting on a damp, dank and dark day than the fragrant scent of Habit Rouge Beau Cavalier.

patchouli, avignon, bois d'encens, never really thought about this before. . .
