The smell of Ivory Soap

Thread Starter
The smell of Ivory soap is simple, yet distinctive. Still I find it difficult to describe with any measure of precision.

So two questions:

(1) Is there any fragrance that captures the smell of Ivory soap?

(2) How would you describe the smell of Ivory soap?

1 - Gendarme or Infusion D'Homme

2 - Dunno

CB I Hate Perfume white soap accord is great stuff and it's one of the cheap ones, too at $25 for 15 ml extrait

Mugler Cologne is my closest approximation.

Clean Lather is absolutely identical to Dove soap. I've never used Ivory so I can't say how close it is, but I imagine they don't smell that different.

Dove is very different, full of sweet, powdery musks. Ivory is rather sharp.

1) Glow by Jennifer Lopez (the first one) was inspired from the smell of clean skin coming out of the shower, after using Ivory Soap.

2) Ivory Soap is a Clean Soapy Bouquet, featuring Jasmin, Clean Aldehydes, Violet, Milky creamy notes, Powdery notes and Musk.

Perhaps Orphee by Maxims. Has a touch of that ivory soap smell IMO.

the scent of plain Ivory bar soap (not any of the liquids or newer soaps) is very simply American wild ginger root. Not aware of any fragrance you can purchase, but it's relatively common in the US.

Coincidently, Bois 1920 Vetiver Ambrato has always reminded me of Ivory Soap

Difficult question because we don't have this brand at all in Europe ~ not even in the UK. Is it like the classic Lux, or like Dove ?

Cannot answer Q 2 with precision.

But for question 1, I second Mugler Cologne.

There's a Clean "Simply Soap" by Dlish.

It's marketed for women, but if you want the Ivory Soap scent, this is it.

There are many soapy scents out there, but if you want Ivory bar soap exactly, look no further than Prada Infusion d'Homme. http://www.basenotes.net/ID26128675.html

Burberry London for Women -- fresh and floral

Is Ivory more similar to Dove or to the classic Lux soap? This product is not available in Europe ?

Prada Infusion d'Homme.

I heard the Krigler Oud smells like Dove and The Tobacco Xerjoff

It is like Dove with all moisturizers removed. Like cheap hotel soap with a sharp, clean smell.

The drydown of Gris Clair smells like burned Ivory soap.

+1 Not exactly Ivory soap, but kind of a richer, fancier version of Ivory soap. It's a great, clean scent.
