My showers are 10 minutes long. 30 min then a shower sounds like a lot to me, but hey, if that's what it takes, I'll soak in a bathtub with vinegar, and then scrub with African soap!
I think if I was really struggling to remove something, I would probably shower using an exfoliant gel. Either that, or I would use the alcohol gel that great_badir mentioned. These are very cheap and widely available.
