Lalique Encre Noire pour Elle

Well, now it is available for purchasing online. The only review in the Directory is by mysticknot and she says it is a sweet vetiver scent.

Those of us who tried, how would you compare it with other vetiver-rich scents (I am aware of the fact that there are different tonalities to vetiver, and my understanding is that vetiver in Encre Noire is close to that in Terre d'Hermes and L'Artisan Timbuktu)?

Many thanks.

The review at 1000fragrances doesn't sound very encouraging for those looking for vetiver.

I only smelled it a couple times, and did not give it any full wearings. My impression is that it is a non-descript floral, not really a vetiver scent. Anybody who is expecting it to be a something like a modernized Guerlain Vetiver pour Elle or a feminized Encre Noir will be disappointed. However, it may be nice for its other qualities--I recommend testing before buying.

It really is not much like the original Encre Noire - it's more gourmand sweet to me. If I were to choose a Vetiver, I would go for Guerlain's Vetiver .

Guerlain Vetiver pour Elle does not strike me as being particularly rooty, deep or smokey -- it is green and vegetal and somewhat brisk, but it is not what I look for at the moment.

A disappointment? A sweet non-vetiver?

Thanks for your replies, ladies.

Hi Twolf- for me, I prefered the original Encre Noire. I actually like the Guerlain men's Vetiver . Good luck with the vetiver search !

Revisiting this old thread, since my bottle of this arrived today.

I didn't want a "feminine vetiver", which was good because this is definitely not one. Osmanthus plays a leading role on my skin & that suits me just fine.

Golly, this is an old thread! Since the OP back in 2010, I tried it, I had a decant of it and it does not do anything for this skin with the exception of white flowers and silly youthful musk. The End. Sorry.
