Has a Fragrance Ever Made You Violently Ill? - Page 2

I was unwell after using Amouage Reflection

Mugler's ICE MEN gave me a piledriver of a headache. Threw the sample away.

Guerlain's Vol de Nuit and Shalimar can give me a bit of a headache if applied too heavily. The first time I tried on Jicky, I started salivating, but once I got it I understood why this fragrance is so important.

I think something you ate or a virus is more likely to be the cause, and the fact you felt unwell after testing a few fragrances is probably coincidental.

There are fragrances that I don't particularly like, but I can't say that any of them smell so bad as to disgust me to the point of feeling unwell / nauseus. There are smells that can do this, but you're not likely to find them in fragrances!

Not violently ill, but Creed Royal Delight makes me feel queasy.

I also feel a bit nauseous with Tauer's LdDM, and several PG fragrances. All quality frags without doubt, but there is a note that I can only describe as "fuzzy" in them that just doesn't agree with me. Shame.

Fascinating thread.

At first when I read reviews or posts by people made sick by scents, I figured it was just dramatics.

But now I realize it really is the power of scent.

I personally have yet to be made sick by a fragrance, but have felt discomfort and unease.

Since I was 6 years old, I never got any nausea/headache from fragrance

Not ill, no, but CDG Luxe Patchouli made me feel a bit queasy (I have since discovered immortelle and I do not get along) which means I have to approach 1740 & Cuir Beluga with a bit of caution as I seem to be more sensitive to it now that I know it is the offender - it lies there waiting for me . . . what a drag.

Reflection Man bothers me immensely occasionally, and other times I am completely fine with it. Sometimes it smells horrible to me, as per the negative reviews that say "corn chips" and the like, and other times it smells like the most beautiful fragrance that has ever come under my nose. Odd, but I still love it.

I was in Paris when the original Poison came out. It was everywhere, buses, subway etc etc. As though every person had bought a bottle . I was sick for a full day because of it. It is still gag-inducing for me. That and Fahrenheit and its flankers eeehhhhhhhh

Cheers Rex
