I just want to smell like a man.

Have your say, which is the most masculine scent to ever envelope your nostrils with pure crystal alpha manhood.

Besides sweat, stench, etc etc.

What fragrance would you associate with the picture above ?
How about this one?
Is him what epitomizes "man" for you? Interesting.

Brut and Aramis colognes.
A*men
Most manly scent? Probably a powerhouse leather/fougère from the 70's or 80's.

But what would Vin Diesel wear...? Habit Rouge, Opium PH?
Honestly, that picture - I don't know who he is, so if he's a celeb I don't recognize him - makes me think of someone who likely wears something light, casual, and generic. This isn't meant to be derogatory, but most people don't think very much about what fragrance they wear, and most choices made without thinking too much are boring and predictable. There's nothing in the pic to make me think he's a fragrance fan, so with him, I imagine something like Cool Water or some light citrus.
IMO colognes cannot get more masculine than Mazzolari Lui or Nassomato Duro
post #8 of 78
Some thoughts:

Most of the big muscular guys I encounter wear light stuff like Acqua di Gio.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that a douche like Vin Diesel over-sprays something with monster sillage.

While wearing Opium pour Homme someone told me "you smell like a man should".
The picture says to me Vintage Tabarome by Creed
post #10 of 78
With that picture ... hm ... first thing came to mi mind would be Only The Brave , just kiding ....

Aramis 900 would be my choice
Matthew McConaughey wears no fragrance or so we're told...
With the first, not the second picture of this thread, I would associate something very powerhouse like Azzaro PH or a classy, slightly off-beat experimental frag like some CDG series or Encre Noir

I may be wrong but I swear I saw him advertising a D&G cologne.

Really...and wasn't he the spokesmodel for D&G The One for men?? I recall quite distinctly his magnificent pectorals delineated through his shirt... LOL!

If you want to smell "like a man," don't bathe and then wait around a day or so...

Bois du Portugal
Havana
Body Kouros

Not necessarily for that picture, just in general.

Seriously, just having male chromosomes and hormones affects the way fragrances smell.

Tabac Blond and Shocking smell differently on me than they do on my wife.
Vintage Tabarome. I'd wear to different degrees with anything. It's the most alpha male scent I have.

Anyone who has done laundry for the whole family should understand that instinctually! ( Medications can seriously change things around too. )

Going back to the original post ... Old Spice would seriously work with that look. But any of the woodsy or lightly spiced masculine scents that dress down well would be fine.

McConaughey's picture is on the D & G Light Blue pour homme display at my local Ulta.

My choice for a celeb with iconic masculinity would be Spanish actor Javier Bardem. And I think Loewe para Hombre would suit him quite well.

Eau de Brad's Pitt

Gengis Khan by Marc de la Morandiere - most masculine scent to ever envelope my nostrils.
Rive Gauche pour homme
Don't get me wrong baby...
I was told by a young woman with whom I was "involved with" that I smelled like a "real man" when I wore Hermes Bel Ami
post #36 of 78
I would suggest the original RL Chaps or Estee Lauder Brasil Dream for Men.
Like a few others have said, Azzaro PH or Kouros.
Chrome is fresh and masculine. I've asked women if they would wear it because I suspected it to be unisex, but they say they want to smell it on men, not wear it.
Is this another one of those "macho man scents" threads?

If it is: QUORUM
Thank you for the eye candy, Trapper, (says would- be cougar joining in). I can contribute nothing meaningful to the discussion but, as fantasy, I imagine that Vin Diesel smells like motor oil- because of the scene in Pitch Black where he is shaving his head using motor oil as a lubricant. In real life, Ruggles is probably right- people have probably given him cases of Diesel over the years.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Fracas for Vin (i.e., does it matter what he wears?). But Antaeus is *my* favorite masculine (duh)...

However, if you're using fragrance to signal your gender (a very malleable construct, contingent on time, place, and culture anyway) then perfume choice has an aspect of drag performance no matter what your actual gender is. Some like butch scents, some like femme, some like both. As long as you like it, wear it.
Without question, the fragrance that I've received the most compliments from other men is Opium Pour Homme eau de parfum. I've owned and used over 200 fragrances in my lifetime since my last year in high school (1972) and Opium takes the prize and #1. It happens to be my signature fragrance and personal favorite of all time along with the original Lagerfeld (not today's "Lagerfeld Classic" which is reformulated from the original).

However, that doesn't mean it's the most "masculine" fragrance, just the one that has garnered the most compliments. Most "masculine" or "manly" in my opinion? One of the very best....Aramis. It's both classy and classical in every sense of the word.
Vin Diesel probably wears something like Gendarme.
Most masculine;

Xeryus/Xeryus Rouge and M7!
Dont shower for a few days after vigorous activity, then you'll smell like a real man
post #46 of 78
Fahrenheit is as manly as a fragrance can get.

Lol. Douche. Took the words right out of my mouth, jeez do I hate him. Such a tool.

As far as most masculine fragrances? Duro is damn masculine, but it's disgustingly sweet.

^ Got to admit though that Vin Diesel is an *honorable douche* in my books, if a douche at all. Yes, he's buff, yes he's often type-cast, but the guy is actually quite intelligent. I've even read that he's an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons. That's a huge anti-douche quality!

I actually like the guy - if you watch recent interviews with him, he seems like a real interesting person to talk to.
I'm surprised no one said Paco Rabanne... I think Giorgio, or maybe Antaeus or Bel Ami.
Man smell?
must smell like Gucci Nobile

I don't think there's anything about the guy that's typical of what one might think of him. I'm not some fanboy, but there's more going on there than meets the eye. He is a D&D buff, and he was deeply involved with the development and production of "The Chronicles of Riddick." He seems to me to be more cerebral than one might think.

How about Y-A-T-A-G-A-N?

Quorum and Polo Green

I think Old Spice has the answer:

Smell like a man
Kourosssssss!!!!
You are all mistaken, Vin Diesel is the male version of Paris Hilton,AKA dumb on the outside, smart on the inside. Check his wiki page and you'll know he's more than just an actor. Brat Pitt is the complete opposite. Although it's been rumored he has the smallest penis in showbiz.
