Prada For Women makes a great masculine

Chalk up another feminine fragrance that I'll be wearing as a masculine. Prada for women is a great patchouli and amber scent that reminds me a lot of Patchouli Patch, just less complex. The patchouli is right up front, the way I like it, and it's buffed out with the amber in the base. It's a beautiful scent. It smells both very feminine and very masculine to me, and I'm surprised Prada didn't market this as unisex. I believe the bottle I have is known as the "original Prada", not the new Prada, but I'm not quite sure.

Any of you feel any love for this scent?

I tried it. As a patchouli freak, I did waver on whether I needed to own it. In the end, I did not like the weird metallic top note, so I decided against it. I agree it is completely unisex, though.

Yes, it is not the new Prada Eau Ambree (or whatever it is called). That is a very soapy, musky, light amber.

Mmmm. I love the original Prada edp, Soft and sweet patchouli. yum!

Has the original EDP been discontinued? The so-called "new" Prada has very similar packaging.

The one I have is rechargable, and has a metal plate on the top that has some of the ingredient names engraved in it: labdanum, Indonesian patchouli, amber (written in French). I bought this for my wife several years ago, but I cannot for the life of me remember the year. She never wears it, so I'm going to wear it.

You are quite right. I prefer the feminine version, but that metallic note Asha mentioned was a major hinderance for me. Still is.

Shamu, I saw the original in Sephora the last time I was there, so I don't think it has been discontinued. The new Eau Ambree is pretty much the same bottle, though, only with a white box instead of pink.

That's good to know because I'd probably buy another bottle once this is gone. The BN directory says it's discontinued, which is why I was wondering.

Luckily I can't say I smell any metallic note at all in this. To me it smells like a very warm, soft, sweet patchouli scent. Now the Prada for men has a screaming metallic note in it which is just nasty. I bought that one semi-blind years ago (I'd sampled it from one of those scratch and sniff magazine ads) and tossed it almost immediately. The masculine version is terrible. Smells like metallic soap.
