I read an article about real men wearing rose scents! What do you think, what is the best rose scent for men? or real men don't wear rose scents?

Le Labo Labdanum 18?
Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose?
Andy Tauer Incense Rose?
any others?

Shout to Amouage Homage attar

Washington Tremlett - Black Tie
Paestum Rose is great! But i miss CHANEL Egoiste on the list..
I voted for Voleur de Roses, but three I'd add are Dominico Caracini, Aramis 900, and Zino Davidoff.
Le Labo Rose 31 from that group
For me, the heavenly rose/patchouli accord in Zino Davidoff by Davidoff is as good as rose will ever get!
My God, the world doesn't just revolve around niche scents.

I second SillageMonger's recommendation of Zino Davidoff.

Moods Uomo by Krizia is also an awesome rose-based scent.
I don't personally think it's particularly rosy, but as it's often thought of as such -

C&S 88

Oh, and a third for Zino.

Amen to that brother.

I would also add Iquitos to the list.
+1 for no.88
Voted for Voleur de Roses and other, which could mean Les Parfums de Rosine Rose d'Homme or Twill Rose or Penhaligon's classic Hammam Bouquet...
I second:
No. 88 and raise to (vintage only) No. 89 (Floris)
Black Tie
Iquitos
Caraceni
Hammam Bouquet
Zino

and would add:
TDC Rose Poivrée
Montale Black Oud, Royal Oud
C&S Dark Rose & Rose (vintage preferably)
Vintage Ungaro III
Iquitos,Rose prominent throughout, woody drydown....Big bold floral.
900,Aramis..Big Rose note among-st the herbs.
AdP Colonia..Not often thought of a Rose fragrance, but don't be fooled by that statement..The Bulgarian Rose, is blended in perfect harmony with Citrus, and Lavender.
Another vote for Zino.... and, for a niche scent, Black Aoud.
Richard James (Savile Row)
Domenico Caraceni 1913
My current favorite is L'Arte di Gucci ( rose/castoreum ).
Incense Rose is the only one on the list I've tried.

Among the "Other" entries: I prefer Citizen Queen, C&S No. 88, Diptyque's L'Ombre Dans L'Eau, or vintage N'Aimez Que Moi to Hammam Bouquet, Black Tie, DC 1913, or Black Oud.
+1 for Black Aoud
I favor the dusky woodsy rose in Vintage Rose by Sonoma Scent Studio.

And please, let's leave the niche-bashing out of this thread...
I think that Rose Poivree is a great rose scent for men. It's rosy but not overly so, has enough pepper and dirty notes to make it interesting, and is on the subtle side; you wear it, it does not wear you (like Black Aoud). Also Yuzu Rouge is a great rose based cologne style fragrance that is perfect for the coming summer months.

I chose "other," viz., Frédéric Malle Une Rose, from nose Édouard Fléchier. Try it.
On the list you put together, I picked Rose 31.

For rose scents, I like Windsor and DC 1913 better myself. But it depends to on your intended use. Rose 31 is pretty versatile, leans a little more romantic, but can also be worn to work.

Windsor and DC 1913 both pretty elegant and "dressy." Personally, I could not wear those with jeans.

Who are the two guys that voted "Real men don't wear rose scents"?
Rose Taifi pure essence.

Montale's Aoud Damascus (the first 30mins after application).
I don't know how we got to the 27th post without even mentioning the new masterpiece that is Lumière Noire pour Homme by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Incredibly sophisticated, best treatment of rose for men ever!
Rose can be a very unisex ingredient. Their may be variations between the genders but IMO, both men and women can wear it.

I completely agree. I don't think there is any perfume accord more beautiful than rose and patchouli.

I'm surprised Black Aoud isn't in your wardrobe.

Most of us haven't had a chance to try it. I know I can't wait - I'm planning on hunting it down when I'm in SF this month.

If "rose" is what i want, then Le Labo Rose 31
post #33 of 108

I don't know, but I love Florals!
I voted for Voleur de Roses just to vote for that favorite. There are a couple dozen others that are greats.
From that list I 've sampled just two,Rose 31,Paestum Rose . I like 'em all ,but I choose Paestum Rose, just because the rose is stronger, in my opinion.

Amen to that brother. IMO, rose doesn't get better, or more masculine than in Rose 31.
Zino, just darn great!
Amouage Lyric Man,the most prominent rose oriented scent of those listed. If you want a scent that's really all about rose, this is the one!

Another excellent option is Lumiere Noire Pour Femme, by MFK.

love that one, just adore it...but so expensive, at least in my country.
Ohh ryt I forgot to mention, Montale's Black Aoud - approx 5 hours after application.
Castile by Penhaligon
No. 88 and Black Aoud aren't listed, hmph!

Neither are Dark Rose or Montale Attar!
I like my roses "dirty"

C&S - Dark Rose
Fresh - Cannabis Rose
Montale - Black Aoud
The Different Company - Rose Poivree
L'Artisan - Voleur de Roses
C&S - Dark Rose
C&S dark Rose and Montale Attar

Im becoming acquainted with Zino for the first time ever today, and find it rather similar to vintage Antaeus.
Its not a dreadful rose at all, though Black Tie is still my top pick.
I am still to this day in love with Amouage Lyric Man...I own it, but never really get a chance to wear it. It is tooo dammnn sexy!

The best manly rose to me is Arabian Oud's King Fahed. It's an increadibly balanced scent of rose, musk, oud and patchouli. Whoever composed that attar is a genius.
Tauer's Une Rose Chypree should also be mentioned.

You got my vote

My vote is for Burberry Brit, or YSL's Paris if you've got the balls to pull it off and it doesn't dry down too powdery on you.

If you have this problem with Paris try MPG Rose Muskissime. You won't believe it!

Ungaro II and III is my vote, but they aren't on your poll
