A Fragrance That Screams Summer At the Beach.

While some of this product still remains I would suggest you try Fendi Theorema Esprit d'ete. This was a flanker that breaks the rules of being less wonderful than the original fragrance from which it springs. When I first tried this fragrance it screamed summer and the beach to me in the most pleasant way. There are still some on-line sales of this fragrance and well worth your while IMO. Now, when I say it screams I don't mean to infer that it is loud or overly strong just very nice indeed.

I haven't smelled that, but I would like to add Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess to the list.

When I think of the beach i think of fragrances that capture the esence of the smells I get at the beach and one of those smells is that of suntan lotion.
These fragrances are great examples of that suntan lotion feel:
The previously mentioned and seconded Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess
CB I Hate Perfume 1967 At The Beach- re-creation of the smell of Coppertone
Bond No. 9 Fire Island- smells just like Bain de Soleil orange gelee
If you really want to go old school track down Jean Patou Chaldee which started out life as a suntan lotion beofre becoming a perfume.

+1 on Bronze Goddess, but I will add MPG Bahiana, which is a lovely woody citrus that is a great summer fragrance!

Fragonard's Miranda would fit the bill, if it was a tropical beach.

...Demeter Salt Air....

Don't laugh, but . . . J Lo's Miami Glow. It's actually a really pleasant beach-y summer scent.

I also put Ava Luxe Johri in this category. A very pleasant tropical aroma.

Creed's Virgin Island Water screams "summer!Beach!" sooo much, that I can't imagine wearing it during another season than summer...not even spring. I just picture myself in "après-beach-mode"...in a light, colorful summer dress, slightly tanned and enjoying the last beams of sun...Another one that's pretty summerish is Byredo's Pulp...

Lily Pulitzer's Beachy is great and screams summery beach time. Also many CSP's like Coco Figue, Matin Calin.... Reminiscence Do Re is coconutty and heliotropy with little white flowers peeping through so this would be in the elegant beach category,I think!

I get a strong vibe of 'summer at the beach' from Salvador Dali's Le Roy Soleil Homme.

I agree with Monsieur Tesla: Theorema Esprit d'Ete is really nice. I just sold a bottle here, but only because it wasn't my style. Smells great though. It's quite light and sunny. In this instance, the name is delightfully appropriate for the fragrance. It really does capture the essence of a scene.

I'd characterize the fragrance this way: You've just applied suntan lotion and are enjoying an orange creamsicle at the beach. I can almost feel the sand in my shorts!

It does have a trace of the original Theorema accord (fantastic), but it is very subtle.

Good one!

Fire Island, by Bond No. 9, is the ultimate beach fragrance!

Issey Miyake- Le feu d'Issey, and Le feu d'Issey light.

(I'm too shy to reccomend Fougere Bengale...but maybe you consider sampling it)

P.S.-Miami Glow smells like some drink they serve at the bach anyway---I choose the drink, and choose a perfume that "speaks" more.

P.P.S.-and one more vote here for Fire Island!!!

Virgin Island Water embraces every cliche ( sunscreen; party drinks ). South Beach in a bottle.

I've said this before and it seems like an odd choice, but Yatagan has this quality in the hot sun that just screams natural beach to me, maybe because I think of pine trees and bushes on dunes and salted driftwood and not tropical, floral, coconutty stuff.

Eau des Merveilles is a fantastic approximation of salty fresh beach scent.

Need to try the Theorema.

I haven't tried Theorama, so I can only respond to the beach part:

I am with Tao Lady : Demeter Salt Air --and it fact she is the one who sent me my sample from the "spray it forward" thread (thank you again!). I now have a full bottle.

Salt air is just that--no fruit, no booze, no flora, no fauna, no suntan lotion. Makes your skin smell as if you just returned from a day at the beach.

I agree with Fire Island, Virgin Island Water, and Eau des Merveilles. They are nothing alike, but all make me think of the beach.

I will add Annick Goutal Vetiver (seaweed+sea water), CSP Aqua Motu (seaside+a touch of sweetness), il Profumi di Firenze Brezza di Mare (beachside+watermelon=super refreshing!), and il Profumo Aria di Mare (intoxicating sea air+ water+seaside plants).

I love the beach. Looks like I need to try Theorema Esprit d'Ete!

Oh yes, do try the Theorema Esprit D'Ete! Lovely

Plus one on: Eau de Merveilles, Bahiana, the Lily Pulitzer.

Will have to check out the other suggestions, too.

Datura Noir by Serge Lutens is my beach scent of choice these days. I love the heliotrope in it, its so...clean. Its that 'beach clean' feel, you know, when you step out of the water and the sun sizzles on your skin, instantly sucking the moisture off your body. Thats how Datura makes me feel.

I also adore Coconut Tuberose by Gap, I have worn that the most this Summer, because its cheap and always in my car.

Id have to say "Kenzo Air" and "Comptoir Sud Pacifique - Coco Figue". Kenzo just reminds me of that lovely fresh beach air when the breeze catches you and Coco Figue is just amazing, coconut, vanilla, fig this reminds me of really hot days on tyhe beach, the smell of body lotion, pina colada's and icecream mmmm.

If the smell of Coppertone suntan lotion is your idea of "The Beach", then look no further than Bobbi Brown's Beach. To me it smells identical to Coppertone rather than the coconut-ty suntan lotions.

I spend lots of time at the beach, so I've found lots of frags for this category:

Coney Island - Bond No.9
French Lime Blossom - Jo Malone
Virgin Island Water - Creed
Deseo - JLo.
Fire Island - Bond No.9
Bronze Goddess - Estee Lauder
Mare - Creative Universe
Bobbi Brown Beach
Cali - Hollister

Ubu, since you live in the middle of the country, spending a lot of time at the beach is quite a feat. Good for you!

Il Profumo Aria di Mare is my personal favourite.

Also good:

Harmatan Noir (refreshing, minty top-notes) by Parfumérie Générale
Musc Maori (also PG)
Beach by Bobby Brown
Deseo by Jenniger Lopez

I'm surprised that in 25 posts no one has mentioned TDC's Sel de Vetiver (although I suppose it does hew a bit to the masculine side of things). Poor Celine Ellena will never get her due for that masterpiece...
