Hi everyone,

I want to know how can I sell the ambergris (grey amber)?
My aunt has collected them last year, I have sent it to the perfumer who live in my country, Thailand.
And they accept that is the real ambergris.

I've try to blended it as the marine note in my perfume, it's nice.
deep, balsamic and aromatic note.

I have more than 30 kg. and I would like to sell it.
Anyone please help.

Thank in advance for reccomendation. ^^

Wow, that's really neat! I'm afraid I have no answer to your question, but it's nice to know that there's still natural ambergris out there washing up from the sea. I had thought that time was past.

If it's actually real you are talking in the neighborhood of $300,000 market value. you should contact a professional buyer:

In my country, There're still valuable raw material left.
Ambergris, agarwood, sandalwood.

Unfortunately, the people don't know how the value of them.
Most of them were destroyed by wrong preserve.

Thanks a lot for your attention, Nillagoon ^^

Those lumps look very different from the ambergris that I've seen before. (And of photographs I've seen before) ?? Ambergris being mainly and usually of more variegated shades of grey. ... (It is called grey (= gris) amber, for a reason, after all ! ) ...
The "texture" looks a little odd to me too. ... (I mean, in that pic, those look more like lumps of cheese, or coconut fat even ??? (LOL)) ...
Basically, it just looks entirely suspect and unauthentic to me ! (Sorry !) ... (But then, what do I know ??? ... As the largest piece I've ever had in my hands was only a mere 5grams in size. So .... ????? )

(Please note, I'm not saying that that is definitely not ambergris ! ... For it might still very well be ??? ... Maybe it just lands up "congealing" in a whole lot of various different ways ??? (As there are different grades of it.)... That might even be perhaps just a "very young" lump of mere recently solidified "puke", that has not yet had quite the full chance to "react" and mature for quite enough years/time yet ??? (In which case it might also not be quite yet ready or useful for perfumery yet ??? (i.e. not quite yet "ambergris" ambergris ! ) ... BUT this is, of course, just my opinion !

Basically, bottom line. (And without smelling it too ! ), I just really think it looks suspect. ...
Also, I would caution anyone here against purchasing this stuff, if it's actually being offered for sale. ~ I would "err on the side of caution" here. ... (Sorry KenGSoHigh ! ... And if it is authentic, I wish you good luck !)

........and if I had found like that (looking at the picture above), I'd probably have left it thinking it's just stones

The New Zealand place take scrapings samples first I believe and confirm it's real Ambergris before they purchase anyway. If it's the real mcoy then what a lovely find, if not, then bad luck and keep looking. I dream of that... but then maybe I should go halfway and live near a beach! I don't reckon there would be much Ambergris to be found on an Essex beach! Although there was a big lump found in Wales. I never found out if they sold it well or not.

Amber can be various colors, so I've read, not just gray. If it's been verified by experts as true amber, I would trust their judgment. How great for your aunt! I hope you can sell them to a reliable buyer and get a good price. I'm no help on how to go about it. I think I'd want to keep a sample for myself, though.
