My kids love going Sniffing with me! :)

My son, 9 and daughter, 4, both love going to Macy's, Younkers, type of places and checking out fragrances - sometimes it's hard to pull them away. And the SA's are usually really good about letting them sniff away. I think it's really cool that I can influence them to smell nice. Heaven knows, kids need all the help they can get!

My daughter, 7, loves this too! She grabs the little sample cards, sprays on them, and saves them. She also runs and grabs the coffee beans for me as soon as I have smelled 2 or 3. Life is good, man.

Currently childless thus slightly off-topic, but I had the luck that my whole childhood and some of my early teen years were spent with grown-ups, not all of them, but some relatives and friends of my parents, who knew certain things about fragrance, owning some very good frags. Thus, almost without ever even openly addressing this topic with me, they got me hooked on frags, even as I clandestinely sampled some of their frag wardrobes, I got fascinated by frags so early, that I cannot even remember how far behind in my childhood it first happened and even the fact that I'm here on Basenotes is partly, thanks to them.

Cool story, Ken. I know as a child, there was nothing as far as fragrances in our house. So Im glad I've been able to introduce my son especially to it all.

My son is very into smelling, the last time we went to Saks, he held a blind sniff contest for me, to help me decide which one to get of the three scents I was waffling over. He made me close my eyes while he sprayed paper strips, the had me sniff. I recognized them, of course, but it was so fun. Fortunately the saleswoman was cool and a grandma, and thought he was cute. It might have been very different. And it turns out he has an incredible nose. He can pick out notes like nobody's business, and he's ten.His signature scent is Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin, but he's also a fan of CK Be and Gucci PH2.
