Antaeus and TF Moss Breches...any similarity?

I stumbled upon the notes for TF Moss Breches and noticed clary sage, beeswax, which are common notes with Antaeus. I have and love Antaeus (reformulated), but haven't yet tested Moss Breches. Is there any similarity between the two? If I like Antaeus, am I likely to also like Moss Breches?

You'll have to test it and find out yourself.

I do not like Antaeus. I love Moss Breches. I don't think they're alike.

I love Antaeus, but not Moss Breches. Neither are similar IMO.

I was thinking yesterday that the drydown of Equipage was fairly close to Z-14, which is something I never thought of before. I think there are a number of factors that lead one to such conclusions. However, can there ever be "truth" here? That is, it did smell like that to you at that time, but it may not on another occasion.

You have to try vintage Antaeus

Thanks everyone. The stores with TF private blend are a bit out of my way, and was wondering if it was worth the trip just to check it out.

I'm actually a bit scared to do so. I'm afraid that I'll love it, find that it's no longer available, and that the reformulation won't smell the same anymore

Last time (August, 2009) i sampled MB, it reminded me so much of Z-14! I remember that was why i passed it up at that time. Now i wish i didnt1

No similarity in my mind.

I wouldn't call them similar, but I wouldn't say they are foreigners either.

They both have the "80s Powerhouse" type of construction (whatever that means to you), but Antaeus as I recall becomes a bit powdery, while MB doesn't. It's the biggest distinction I can think of between the two, and the reason I kept the latter and jettisoned the former.

I think this is a good example of how just reading notes/accords in a pyramid really doesn't tell the story of what a frag smells like. those notes may vary greatly in concentration or even be part of a marketing gimmick because "tonka" sells well or whatever. I've done this same process, researching frags with similar notes and smelled ones that "should" have worked in theory but IRL were not at all what i was expecting.

Here's one similarity they have: they are both chypres.

Oddly, I never got the chypre vibe off Moss Breches. Of course, I never found it particularly mossy, either - more freshly herbal drying down to ambery sweet. Not sure if there is a name for that, though...
