Two of the most divisive of all men's fragrances, Joop! Homme and A*Men - which do you prefer and why?

Me? A*Men wins hands down. I love Angel for women, so I'm naturally inclined to like A*Men, which is a more masculine version of Angel. I don't love A*Men, and it isn't one of my favorites, but I do like it and wear it.

I think Joop smells like powdered carpet cleaner with melted plastic.

A*Men. It goes on a little harsh but mellows out nicely, and I don't find it a sillage beast.

Joop! Homme is by far and away the most powerful male fragrance I've ever smelled. Too much for me.

I love A*Men - top, middle, and bottom!

Joop!, on the other hand, is just a bomb of nastiness. It's medicinal, synthetic, cloying, chemical, and SUFFOCATING! Can't even handle it on a test strip.

Joop! by a clear mile.

I have both, but I never, ever, use A*men,
I can't put my finger on why, I just find the
smell of it absolutely vile ...
Joop! on the other hand is nice and sweet!

I'll go with A*Men. I love the caramel note. Just delicious. And not in a "Wow, this smells sooo good" kind of delicious. I mean, "Mmmm, Mmmmm!!" kind of delicious. .

Not something I would wear, but wouldn't mind to spray it on me at home or in a room. Joop?....oops...I mean, Joop! ? Well, it is quite overplayed in Canada. Almost as overplayed as Avril Lavigne and Nickelback songs.

Me too.

I own Joop! and love it, I'm planning to own A*men, this year definitely - it is awesome! People hate Joop! because they're overwhelemed by top notes or spray too much, sometimes they test it in warm and humid weather conditions. Joop is exclusively cold weather and just one spritz scent.

A*men is King.
Joop! for me.
A*Men I love the hot-cold contrast between warm roasted coffee & chocolate notes and the cool breeze of peppermint & lavender.

A Man for its pachouli

This is a little like being asked, "do you want to be shot or stabbed?". In the end I would probably vote for Joop as A*Men is just so outstandingly awful. I could just about pull Joop off, but with A*Men, no way.

I really don't care for A*Men.
I have tried it numerous times trying to find something appealing in it but I always found it to be a nauseating scent.
It is just not for me, which is strange since I really love chocolate,

Joop, I like that one sometimes but not always.
I have to be in the mood for it.
So my vote goes to Joop.

lol

Joop! can be beautiful in small - very small - doses. As for A*men - I tend to like gourmands, but it was a bit much. Like pouring a cafe mocha over your head. I'll keep mine in the cup, thanks.

A*Men is f'ing fantastic!
I dislike A*Men, but I absolutely detest JOOP! with a passion.
A*Men - I sold mine a while back along with a couple other Muglers. Kinda miss them now!

A*Men is the lesser of the two evils.

The only thing I can tolerate about Joop are the top notes, which are kind of interesting. About 20 minutes after that, the chemical, corrosive horror begins.

I hated A*Men initially, thought it was way too sweet. However, once I found out that the amazing B*Men was discontinued, I learned to really like A*Men, knowing that my supply of B*Men would some day run out. Also, I get a much different experience when I wear A*Men from when I merely sprayed some on my hand.

A*Men

although Im not a fan of either, but the chemical sweet bomb is just too much for me

I agree - shot or stabbed?

This would be my idea of Room 101.

"Ok, so which would you like to spend eternity with? A*Men or Joop!?"

Gahhh, the idea is just too ghastly to contemplate...

Joop is nice with lots of sweet candy fruits.

Never tried A-Men so can't comment.

This ain't the 90s ... the A*Men formula isn't as radical anymore with many weird niche house offerings outstripping it interms of brashness and weirdness. Joop homme! however still clocks up a big negative because of its far poorer quality of ingredients. So A*Men gets my vote for its great blend of chocolate patchouli and mint.

You got that right. I still can't tell what the hell is in this stuff. DDT?? Whatever it is, it smells synthetic and poisonous.

bwhahahaha ˝both hater˝, I can understand why a person would hate both of these, even though I love them both...

mmm... Angel for women is one of the most powerful women's scent with the greatest sillage and longevity. Angel women's is unique in that it is a female scent that is very masculine with a strong patchouli and pipe tobacco base that most frown upon. The men's version A*Men though I like can never hold a candle to Angel - it lacks to power and contrast of Angel.

Joop! Homme - I love it is floral and sweet like but is contrasted with a strong patchouli and pipe tobacco base also. There is no other men's fragrance that is as strong as this scent with its sillage that rivals Angel for women.

So my vote is a no surprise - Joop! which we had more men's scents like this that push the norm.

You know every once in a while I wear Joop Homme sparingly and enjoy it.
I have always enjoyed Joop! Homme. It is indeed very powerful, but I also find it to be quite wearable (and I really enjoy it). A*Men, on the other hand, is the designer fragrance that I detest most. I have sampled it a few times, and I abhor it (a real scubber on me). I am almost convinced that I will always dislike A*Men (and I'm quite open minded). To be fair, I'll give it another try in a year or two.
Don't really care for either one, but if pressed I'd pick A*Men.
A*Men for sure.....Gary
Joop! is warm, sexy and has a vanilla dry down that's to die for. A*Men I bought blind, and honestly, after a couple wearings you realize you don't want to smell like Chocolate and caramel all day, it's nauseating like being a fat kid bathed in peanut butter cups and caramel.
I despise both, but if I had to choose it would be A*Men.
Having tried A*Men now I can say without a doubt I would choose Joop! Homme every day of the week and twice on sunday. The reason being is A*Men is just sweet, and almost unbearable after a while. Joop on the other hand is very sweet, but it's also sharp or tart even. Joop seems more balanced to me. Not only that but I just would rather smell like candy than a full on dessert LOL. I don't hate A*Men but I wouldn't want to wear it.
Being an A*Men fan I have to say A*Men. I unlike most of my friends can tolerate Joop.

I dislike A*men, but I hate Joop

I traded Kouros for Joop and ended up missing Kouros and gave away Joop to my cousin. I just could not stand it. A*man on the other hand, still own and wear. When I first tried it, I could detect something sweet like cotton candy/lavander. But then, shortly after, I smelled some patchouli mix in going to nice warm coffee/vanilla/woody base. However, I had skipped this fragrance when it first came out. It was not until I came accross B*men which led me to Pure Malt that I decided to give this one a chance. I bought it blind and do not regret it. However, if I was to choose between a Thiery Mugler, I would go with Pure Malt or Pure Coffee. I traded my Pure Coffee and I one of my biggest regrets. Live and learn.
If we are talking about perfume not chemical warfare, I would certainly pick A*Men.
Joop! is nasty stuff. Sprayed some on the top my hand at the store last week for fun and now I'm still stuck with the scent on my jacket!

A*men is my choice.

A* Men by FaRRRRRRRRRRR
I's take none of the two, both being too heavy for my taste
post #42 of 43
Joop is one of those scents, along with Dior Homme/Intense and Paco 1 million that i have to scrub off immediately after a test. Foul tack that no self respecting chap would ever go near.

Easy choice, A men.

A*Men becasue better solution is JPG Le Male than Joop! Homme!
