Off to Alton Towers today, the weather is miserable and Nu EDP seemed to be perfect.
Oh I do hope you enjoy your day LIbertine. The two times
we have been to Alton Towers it was tipping it down with rain -
so much so once that they issued us all with plastic macs, closed most of the rides and we
ended up wading back to the car in 4" of water!!
After a sunny day in the garden yesterday we now have rainand cooler temperatures again.

Mandarine Basilic again!
Shantoung from Galimard for me today. It's the most powdery fragrance I have worn so far.

Notes:
Tuberose, Egyptian Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Sweet Orange, Violet, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Vanilla.

Soft and soothing is the name of the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed the piece you wrote, chaya, especially those last few words about light and shadow -- so, so true. Thanks for the link.

I am heading to bed now, but may post again later when I have chosen a scent. Take care, all.

I'm so very pleased to read CHAYA's words - and see that she is wearing Orchidee Blanc! It does'nt get any better!

The weather here is taking a quick turn toward the chilly - but thankfully it won't last!

I'm trying to make plans with my girlfriend to take our boys out to the show to see "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"...they LOVED the books. Hmmmmm, what frag goes well with popcorn and sweet tarts?

Happy first day of Spring! I'm in Cristalle edt.
I wish I could smell Coco & #5 on "our" guys. I bet it's fantastic!

My lust for rose scents continues. This scent wears so much better in the warmer temperatures and since it will be in the mid 70's today.....I'm wearing Andy Tauer's Incense Rose.

BTW......http://www.sniffapaloozamagazine.com...sesSERIES.html "CL" is me.
Happy Saturday and Happy Spring! Hope you're having more of a Spring than we're having here. Snowstorm yesterday and snow/ice on the ground today, grrrrr.

I'm wearing AP Diamond Dust again today.

Caron - Tabac Blond

Golden rays of the famous carnation base,
along with leather and amber, form this warm, enchanting fragrance.

Created in 1919 by Ernest Daltroff, at that time the only feminine fragrance
with tobacco notes, a dry chypre fragrance with top notes of orange blossom
and lemon, heart notes of jasmine and tobacco, on base notes of cedar wood,
amber, civet, benzoin and oak moss.

Hello everyone!

Inspired by Dimitri's article "Death of a Classic," I'm in vintage Opium edt today.

Have a great weekend!

True confessions: I came to Basenotes simply to find a few good frags and maybe a new signature scent. However, I am now completely addicted to sampling, so my Scent of the Day is usually a Scent of the MOMENT....and I am finding it increasingly more difficult to choose a SotD as there are so many good ones. I think I'll try Le Labo Fleur D'Oranger...for now.
Decided to wear Shalimar today instead of previous choice.
Sharing the house with Roberto ... but it's Lorenzo Villoresi Musk for me today.

Happy weekend to all ...
I am wearing SSS's Opal today and enjoying its warm cuddle.

Congratulations to Chaya on her writing venture. The trouble with good fragrance writing is that one is sorely tempted to make a blind purchase...

Her Majesty -Jicky.
Chaya, you make GreenWitch sound beguiling. I love the idea of a marriage of earth and ocean...

Love that lion, Kumquat, and the lazy kitty, Lessa (glad you're feeling a bit better!).

This morning I'm comparing the EDT and EDP versions of Jean Patou's Ma Liberte. I think the EDT suits me best, but the EDP is what I bought. Hmmm... may have to set up a sales thread to clean out a few things. (And you all know that is code for "make room for more stuff.") :-)
Cristalle edt for me today.
Chaya, I normally do not get along with anything with "orchid" in the name or the notes, your SotD L'Artisan's being an only exception. (I know, some people can say that orchids are the most prolific plant class in the world with scores of subclasses and families, but please, be gentle on me).

L., this picture of a cat made me smile -- very nice and relaxing. Can you go without a pill? Like, a hot bath, having your feet rubbed, warm tea with honey, possibilities are virtually limitless.

In Tann Rokka Kisu, a double shift at work, 20F in the morning.
Wore Gaiac for lunch with the girls today. Going to shower and change into Bois et Musc now.
Put on a little dibber dabber of PG Querelle. I can almost smell it, so I think my cold is better. Yay.

Lessa, I find that if I cannot quiet my mind, I cannot get any sleep, no matter how tired I may be. Perhaps you could try some specific winding down techniques several hours before bedtime? Getting your thoughts down on paper, stretching, hot baths, no television, no computers, that sort of thing. As a lifelong insomniac I feel your pain, but even I am able to sleep nowadays as long as I am able to quiet my mind. Good luck to you, poor pumpkin.

I "thought" my SotD was So Elixir (YR, just got it today), but after having worn it on my wrists for just an hour, I can´t smell it anymore...

In my package from YR I also got the small bottles of vanilla, blackberry and framboise, so tonight I will keep myself amused with blending, layering and experimenting.

Happy Spring!

OMG! Just saw Baldufita´s post, lol! I have applied some more So Elixir now, and it IS nice, so I guess I have to order the body lotion, too.
SoT morning... Habit Rouge

Then... layered on some E.M. Ca' d'Oro (warm lovely Venice nights)

Then... the somewhat plastic-laced remnants of MKK (a decant deal gone wrong in shipping, the bottle leaked in the shipping envelope and not enough left to really get to know.)

Think I'll warm myself up with a shower and try again. Cold wind and a somewhat failed attempt at a blizzard... if it's going to bliz it's going to have to get serious about it in the next few hours.)... hmm. SoTE? Probably Mitsuoko. Or maybe I'll layer something scrumptiously warm and something else scrumptiously warm.
Yay Musse!!!! You're gonna have so much fun with those...

Regarding So Elixir, so funny that you say you can't smell it anymore... On me it lasts and lasts... :/

Wore Borneo 1834 for going to cinema with my daughters.
Chanel No. 19 parfum, now that it's spring.
I just received a box from my cousin and his wife stuffed with clothes handed down from their grandkids-- a Florida Gators onesie, a John Deere onesie, and a pair of camouflage overalls (these last two items were worn by their granddaughters). My kid is definitely going to be original here in Silicon Valley!

(Some of you might wish to have a look at my post yesterday to the Member's Pictures thread. )

I still can't really bear to wear any of my rich, stinky favorites, so I'm getting by in Avon's Haiku (inspired by the Avon thread). Nothing special here, just light, clean, pretty, and most of all, tolerable.

been sitting in the backyard watch the hummingbirds feed on my bushes today-Paradise!

Earlier, from a sample from Rei Rien tried Le Feu D'Issey Glad to have it as a reference sample but wouldn't seek a FB even if it weren't DC and very pricey,
Now trying Patou Que sais-je

Welcome, Bloomy! I think that is the way most of us "get hooked". Habanita for me today...shower gel, lotion, parfum & EDT. Basenoters turned me on to this frag and I thank you for that.
And the SoTE is Opium. Because I can. (I really like it now that I've become accustomed to its opening notes. Was kind of a "gasser" the first time. Can see why it's a classic.)

Ooh! I think I'll have to get me some of that AH...

And... finally, my sleep scent for pure comforting warmth value will be Sycomore.
