Anyone ever try this? Or know where I can find some good reviews on it? Thanks
I tried this accidentally about 8 years ago. I was trying to purchase a bottle of Green Masculine at TJ Mxaxx for about $12 (to which I was already fond of and familiar with).
I dismissed the term "special edition" as just meaning it has a really cool looking bottle (opaque metallic, with topographical beads of sweat/condensation on it).
When I sprayed it on my arm upon getting in the car, I thought it smelled like a hideous neurotoxin, or Agent Orange-like stuff. I thought it some form of art-terrorism.
(Perhaps just because I was expecting the classic GM formula).
Within an hour (I disciplined myself not to wash it off), I was delighted in the "darkness" and cryptic/earthy vibe this gave me. It truly is NOTHING at all like the original. I get massive whiffs of galbanum, douglas-fir resin, something VERY bitter-green, and something VERY dank and musty. I have tried endlessly over the years to find a more "sophisticated" fragrance which replicates these accords.....I have not been successful. The closest I can come would be scattered and vague notes, picked out of many of the Comme des Garcons Incense-frags. Also a vague similarity to a note in Gucci pour Homme. However, you wouldn't notice unless you knew what you're looking for.
If a green-fleshed, 8-foot tall frankenstein wore perfume, he would wear this (while he took bong-hits in a dark, black-light room).
I went through the bottle in a few months, and looked for years to find another one. I found one around 2008, and it sits on my closet shelf almost full (I wear it when the mood strikes me).
I will reiterate- If you find it, you should buy it (depending on price, of course).
When/IF you find it, it shouldn't be TOO expensive, because it's not really sought after, or even heard of, really.
