Good morning!

It's pouring here. Just a spritz of Bodycology Gardenia mist for me today.

Hi all!

Rainy day here but it'll be good for the roses.

I've got my nose back-- YAY! I'm wearing Privet Bloom-- taking DD to school, then shopping, then off to see Mom who is hopefully still in one piece after her first night alone.

30 Roses, my mom lives with my sis but she is alone during the day.
So I call her during my lunch-time to make sure she is okay.

Seeing people getting old and helpless before your eyes is so sad & painful.

Your mum will be in my prayer.

Oh, and congrats about your nose !

Wearing Bill Blass Fragrances' Couture 6 Moroccan Rose. Notes are: Apple Blossom, Black Berries, Rose Sari, Moroccan Rose, Patchouli. This is a rose scent unlike any other I own, which is saying something! It's sweeter, more like the fragrance of the wonderful old bourbon rose, Zephirine Drouhin.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

With so much turmoil for many of us it is nice to hear about the mothers-to-be as that is a happy thing, except for the morning sickness.

Rainy day at Stately Somerville Manor and I wanted a pinch of spice for the day.

Odin 01 Nomad

There has been a tradition of menswear brands branching to fragrance which starts with Ralph Lauren and Polo all the way to the present day and Ed Hardy. Even smaaler stores are doing it as Zara’s fragrance collection is a good example. Now a small menswear store in Soho in New York has created their own brand of fragrance. The store is Odin and the one of their first three release in 2009 was 01 Nomad.

Nomad as the name implies is meant to evoke the wandering nomads and in particular those who ply the spice routes. As I am a lover of spicy fragrances this was the one fragrance I expected to resonate with me. Nomad imposes its spices over a traditional oriental architecture and isn’t particularly ground breaking.

The top of Nomad begins with a great juniper note combined with bergamot and citrus. There have been a number of men’s fragrances that have been using juniper effectively early on in the development and Nomad is one of those. The heart is a smooth tonka paired with a clean cedar and pinch of pepper. The base deepens the woodiness as sandalwood along with a warm musk close out Nomad’s journey on my skin.

Nomad has average longevity and average sillage.

Nomad is not anything new by anyone’s stretch of the imagination but the ingredients used are good quality; and for those who like their orientals with just a pinch of spice Nomad just might be the fragrant journey for you.

Have a Tasteful Tuesday everyone.

Yves St. Laurent - Opium
Vintage Parfum
Created in 1977 by Jean Amic and Jean-Louis Sieuzac of Roure-Bertrand
(now Roure) Perfumers; a classical soft oriental parfum with top notes of
mandarin, clove, plum, bergamot, pepper and coriander,
heart notes of lily of the valley, rose, myrrh, peach and jasmine,
on base notes of benzoin, labdanum, myrrh, opoponax, castoreum,
cedar and sandalwood.

Slightly soapy to start. Then the hallucinogenic effect kicks in.
This is one elegant scent. A sumptuous experience to be savored.

Sampling Guerlain Parure (thanks pelle!)

So far it's a slightly soapy pot pourri scent but I am getting hints of leather and cinnamon behind the rose and lilacs. I am hoping they intensify. It's definitely a dry chypre, but warmer than Mitsouko and no woods like Vol de Nuit as of yet. It casts a sort of antique pink coral hue in my mind's eye, though it's more elegant and not as garrish as this coral parure jewel set.

I'm definitely enjoying the complex development and will sample again, but perhaps luckily given its scarcity, it's not screaming "must have" quite yet.

Enjoy the day!

Hello dear BNers! Today, I spritzed quite a lot of my...

SOTD: Bal a Versailles EDC

I agree with those that say that this formulation has quite a bit more floral in/at the top. I also get an occasional big whiff of tobacco, which is actually very nice. I don't know if I'm a sillage monster this morning, but something was making the very slow and somewhat surly cashier at the drugstore sniffy...hmmmm...

Upping the oakmoss ante from Parure this morning and donning vintage Estee Lauder Azuree this afternoon. A rich, green-leather chypre equally at home at a posh yacht party in Cannes or cruising the darkest leather bars of Marseilles (or just relaxing on a warm early spring day).

I've been to the shops today. On my left arm, Iris Nobile. Beautiful and slightly parma-violetty. On my right, Magnolia Nobile and Stella Nude. The Stella is all rose, and the Magnolia surprised me by being so full of lemon in the top notes.

I'm back in Brasil Dream by Estee Lauder . It's very early Wednesday morning for me now. Still thinking of my Basenotes friends who need support. *HUGS*

There is a very good looking Brazilian instructor here- male ,who is quite a character, very friendly - tanned, really really ripped ,huge muscles and buff, plucks his eyebrows, wears abit of makeup, completely hairless due to waxing, my girl's eye tells me -he is the embodiment of Brasil Dream ! We laughed when I pointed to this orange colored bottle of perfume and said " Brasil Dreeaam " "Brasil Dreeeeeaaaam " *LOL*

chaelaran - Pearl Musk is delightful ,my fave AL musk.

SoTD E. Coudray Esperys I think the sillage is quite office-safe, I was smelling it all day but nobody else seemed to notice. VERY nice.

This afternoon even though the base was still strong, I put a little spritz of Chanel Coromandel over it, and then got compliments... something in here smells very good. (oh, it's me! Thanks!) I liked the layered combo but it's not really "me" (even though the Esperys is.)

This evening after a shower... maybe Chanel Pour Monsieur

(Now our Dmitri knows why I can't afford his DIY supplies! I'm "grounded" from scent purchase for the foreseeable future. An intervention is likely should I continue. (self-imposed grounding after a discussion with the Poolboy.) )

Mom's doing fine and is over devouring sausage and peppers, whole grain bread and green beans.

We went shopping today and it was easier to just bring her home for supper. We're watching the old Jane Eyre movie with Olivia de Havilland and Orson Welles.

Many thanks for the prayers for her!

That's nice to hear, 30R., seems like both of you are coping with it. Once again, I can't stress enough what Ms.Tao told me on several occasions: "Live in the Now".

A BIG hug to all BNers in need.

I had to wear my new Philtre d'Amour, lemony fresh with a bit of animal for a warm spring day.
