What is the best male fragrance ever made? - Page 2

For me it's a tie between Coty Musk and Green Irish Tweed.
Royal English leather by Creed, strictly because it has been around so long and it still is relevant. But for something more current I would also say paco rabanne ph

Very interesting choice, personally, its one of those fragrances I'd like to smell, but not wear
post #64 of 152
One of the finest I have ever smelled is Habit Rouge Extrait.

Hands down Creeds GIT

Collect choice spices--12-1/2 pounds of pure myrrh, 6-1/4 pounds of fragrant cinnamon, 6-1/4 pounds of fragrant calamus,
and 12-1/2 pounds of cassia. Also get one gallon of olive oil.

Since I started this post in March, the best male fragrance ever made so far in my opinion is Creed Aventus followed very closley by Cuiron.

While vacationing in Dubai me and my wife got into this perfume shop and we selected a couple of perfumes that we thought they were out of this world. The one I choose was basically Oud with Rose and Jasmine notes and very, very spicy (Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Cumin and who knows what else) with a magnificent Sandalwood drydown. The label was written in Arabic and never knew the name of the juice. I would give my right arm to get another bottle.
More realistically (but not that much LOL) is the original Vetiver by Guerlain, if any of you had the opportunity of getting a whiff of that marvel will agree with me, it was magnificent indeed, but again, unattainable. the reformulations are a mere shadow of the original

More down to earth I would mention my three favorite REAL perfumes, in not particular order:

Ungaro III, a masterpiece, a brooding "gothic" dark rose with a wood, patchouli cortege. (A perfume to "die" for, LOL)
One Man Show, an amazing perfume that deserves better.
Silver Mountain Water, enough has been said already.
Maybe it's Eau Sauvage. I don't know for sure.
So far, from everything I've ever sniffed, I would have to also go with Green Irish Tweed.... provided that the new money-focused pseudo-luminaries who took over the brand don't do their best to destroy this masterpiece as well.

ROFL... Somebody with only 16 postings (not that zillions will make you a connoisseur) says *HANDS DOWN* Creed GIT. This is hilarious!
Either Kouros (Eau de Sport) or Fahrenheit (Vintage). GIT is another possibility.

Chanel Pour Monsieur - it's a timeless classic. never feels dated.
Aramis Havana

Ambre sultan..do not you agree?
Heavens Elixir is the best bar none. It's composed from the fountain of youth and the blood of Jesus Christ with tears from a Angel which makes up the basenotes. Only God himself and his chosen sons are allowed to wear it.lol

HAHA! I like this! Where can I get it?

Most influential in the modern times? Cool Water/GIT.
Picking out the best masculine is like ranking your favorite light beers; some are good but most are still derivatives of better, fuller versions. All the old greats are either unisex or feminine, except for Knize Ten I guess.

yesssssssss.....

Habit Rouge Beau Cavalier by Guerlain.
I'm still relatively new to this fragrance game and have yet to sample some of the suggestions above, but I'll hazard a guess at what is NOT the greatest male fragrance of all time. Even though one sales assistant claimed it was...

Armani Code.

I tried some earlier today and lets just say I now know why the poor chap in the commercial looks so moody. He's got the code and it's code for floral soap.
In the future ask this question again. Iwill answer:
Basil Leather by DeepSilence !!
Sillage 5/5
Longevity 5/5
Opening is Floral green + Mahogany wood note!
Drying down is Leather + Geranium + Basil (Dominant notes)

The thinking of this board has really changed over the years! I'll mention Patou Pour Homme just because I'm surprised no one else has.
Today I will respond by saying M7.

I just want to crawl inside the bottle & live there

How is that for a ringing endorsement?
Hmm... Hermes Bel Ami?

Yeah. Surprised that no one has gone there yet. I think that speaks to the changing demographic of Basenotes, and to PPH's increasingly ridiculous prices and rarity.

If I had to pick just one fragrance though, it might be Patou Pour Homme.

Or Armani Code

Hungary Water.
Creed Vintage Tabarome.
For me...Millesime Imperial (Creed) or Aqua di Gio (Armani)

The Greatest: 4711
(I've stated why in previous posts...essentially boiling down to history, John Richard Gott III's Copernican principle, etc.)

A good case in point, to be noted by those who object to "redundant threads". Thinking and opinions change all the time.

While we are at it, Dunhill Blend 30, same as ever ;0)

Almost impossible to answer, but I'd have to say of all the things I've smelled that Chanel's Egoiste is possibly the closest to perfection across the board. Of course, I'm sure there are those who hate it, and it's not even my favorite...but every time I smell it, I think, "Ahh, now that is perfect."
Let's put it this way: Chanel is probably the most consistently excellent house for men's classics. I'd say YSL is a close second. IMHO.
I have 12 of these ...
but today i say
Givenchy Gentleman , vintage only .

Hungary Water is generally regarded as the first "modern" perfume.

It's been one year since I asked this question, have opinions changed?
The one you like the most
Honorable mention to Patou Pour Homme and Creed Vintage Tabarome, but the best male fragrance is JPG Le Male layered with Egyptian Musk roll-on from downtown Brooklyn, trust me.
Aramis. Because everything else cowers at its feet.

Fact.

It's a tie between the venerable Patou Pour Homme and the pugnacious Super Fragrance for Men by Etienne Aigner.

Chanel Egoiste

Egoiste came to my mind immediately too but an impossible question to answer.

Anataeus is a colossal, towering masterpiece of masculine perfumery. Of course there are hundreds out there that are equally as equally, but this one gets to me every time <3

This is a hard pick,

My personal favorite is Mitsokou,

Market favourite is Aqua di gio ( even someone with no experience in pefumes have heard about it) but personally i do not like it.

Silly thread. Should really be called "what's your favourite fragrance?"
Pure malt .

Mugler and his production/marketing team should be officially called "dumb and dumber " if they don't bring it back in production .
Well, there is this fragrance that I've made for myself, which is without a doubt the best male fragrance ever. Too bad you guys can't have it though.
