In my orange blossom quest, I saw one called Zagara or "orange blossom" from Santa Maria Novella. Does anyone have any experience with this one?

Anyone?

Well, I hesitated to reply because my answer is so vague. But here goes anyway: I tried SMN Zagara last summer when we visited Aedes, but I was really underwhelmed. It was not memorable and I had to look at my own wardrobe to see that I had given it a mere 2 stars. Unfortunately I did not take notes on why I didn't care for it. But there are lots of reviews of it on makeupalley.com, if you want to read others' opinions.

I have not found any orange blossom more to my taste than L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger, which many fault because it is short-lived (true, but it lasts longer if you get some on your clothing-- and it is glorious while it lasts!) Yes, it is very pricey, but 15% off and free shipping from beautycafe.com made it more affordable for me.

This is a new one for me, I haven't heard of it. I have a printed list which I got at the Rome shop. It lists an EdC called "Orange Blossom" and I made a note beside it saying "Arancio". Perhaps it has both designations. But I haven't heard of Zagara before. My notes from the London store beside Classica says "neroli" EdC. Unfortunately, I have not tried Orange Blossom / Arancio / Zagara. If I see one, I will try it now!

Speaking of fragrances named Zagara, you may want to try Mazzolari Zagara, it's strong but quite nice.

I have a feeling I've smelled this on my travels, but it did not register in my memory banks the way some of the others did. So, neither yay nor neigh, but don't take my word on it.

Yes, I have tried Jo Malone. It was okay, but some of the elements like peach blossom and lily made it a little watery and feminine for me.

I thought the SMN and Jo Malone were similar.

I'll just have to wait and see then I suppose. BTW, how did you like the samples I sent?

i Promufi di Firenze - Arancio di Sicilia is an excellent orange fragrance, certainly worth trying if you've not already.

Sounds like a good one to try. I guess Zagara means orange blossom in Spanish and Arancia is Italian.

"Zagara" is Italian for orange blossom.
"Arancia" is Italian for orange.

(Italian was my first language.)

There's also Zagara Fiori (Orange Blossom) from Firenze, but the one that reminds me of walking past orange trees in Italy the most is the Arancio di Sicilia.
