was testing this out today and went to my parents house. my dad asked me if i was wearing cologne. i said yes and he said "it smelled nice". lol its funny cause i wear something different over there everytime he nor my mother ever mention it. i also mentioned to him that its a highly liked fragrance by older gentlemen on the internet(this place) and he started laughing.

it's a nice mature frag, my fav creed right now

it's definitely something an older DAD would notice and compliment.

No disrespect to BdP... its is a magnanimous scent. But it is absolutely meant for men over 50. I gave a bottle to my dad recently (70), and he went crazy over it, and I went crazy over him wearing it. He used to wear Old Spice back in the day when I was a little kid, and at his current age, he deserves something that men of that generation can relate to, but on a top-flight level of class and sophistication. That is Creed Bois du Portugal.

That said, I am 33, and I would never wear it.

What's interesting about BdP to me is that if memory serves and some of the stories I've heard about it's introduction were true, it was initially embraced in the late 80s by the young-ish exec set (30s to early 40s). I gather too it was a big hit in Dallas and the coasts.

I guess over time, the main fan base has aged a bit. I haven't worn it awhile, but it always seemed lighter on me than seems to be most people's experience. I always got a kick out of the fact that it was reportedly a favorite of Jennifer Love Hewitt. (Though it was never clear if she wore it, or just liked it).

lol i like it also its one of those scents i would wear because i like it and dont care what anyone else thinks. during those times when im not trying to make an impression on anyone, but rather wearing the scent itself because i enjoy it.

You got me thinking about it again. I just had to pitch about 1/4 of a bottle. I had it about 8 years and it faded. Pain in the azz with Creeds too is that they can vary from batch to batch. Sometimes I wonder if I got a dud bottle way back. It never really wowed me the way I expected it to. Maybe when it was brand new...can't remember now.

Thumbs up from me on this one. It does smell very 'civilized' with the classic vibes...

I don't think I could ever get tired of Bois Du Portugal. Whenever I want to play it safe, that's what I choose.

I think it's brilliant from start to finish. Finish is about 12 hours into it, too. It probably should be cold weather, formal wear only -- but I wear it any time I feel like it, which includes office, weekends, even warm weather (though I tone down the application a bit). Not surprising that you got a compliment on it. I have received many compliments by wearing BdP. An essential component of any well-rounded collection, IMO.

Classy and elegant stuff! As TalkinMuffin said here before, more suitable for my dad (61) than on me (36)..

I love the stuff. I'm not as old as TalkingMuffin's suggested users, but every day I wear BdP is a good day. Further, about its luck, a great salesperson at a brick and mortar store that was dropping Creed from its offerings just up and gave me a full tester bottle of it because she liked talking fragrances with me, and heck, there was no other use for a tester. So now I've got two bottles. I'll be using it until I'm well into the suggested users group.
