What a fabulous photo of Joan Collins, le Grand Duc.

I'm in a more subtle fragrance testing Le Parfum de Therèse as yesterday. The more I get to know it the more I like it.

SNOW???!!!

And here's be bitchin' about the temps only goin' to the seventies! (F) My condolences folks.
Trying out -thanks to Bloomy! - the newest Diorissimo and things are not going well. It's been years since I wore this and my memory is of a limpid muguet undergirded by the most tender jasmine with that richness one (I) associates with "fine French perfume".

So far this is is strident and - burnt rubbery! After that first blast the jasmine - less than ladylike - came barreling through, still trailing the rubber. It's only been a short time. Maybe things will improve. Dommage!

Good morning!

Intend to make a lasting impression through the potency of Rapture by Victoria Secret.

May each of us smile today without needing a good reason...

I told you the new stuff was VILE! Isn't it a shame? I tried so many times to love it...

Welcome, Mariabar!

Thanks to a divine perfume friend, I am wearing Cuir de Lancome today. This is the current version; starts with a slight birchy roughness, smoothing out into supple glove leather, then moves into gentle, soft florals (I'm picking out hawthorn and ylang ylang, mostly.) By contrast, the original (of which she also gave me a samp) puts me in mind some of Tabac Blond, only more powdery, with a vintagey vibe. Both are absolutely lovely.

Have a lovely Sunday, all!

Welcome to BN Mariabar!

Good morning all....gonna start the day in Yves Rocher Pur Desire de Pivoine EDT thanks to the uber generous Taolady....however I am beginning to think that peonys simply need to stay in my garden and not on me. Every single peony frag that I have tried so far gets very bitter and chemically smelling on my person. Ah, the wonders of skin chemistry...

Welcome, Mariabar !

Busy at work in Chanel # 22 parfum, first new scent in a week ;-)

Love you all....

Guerlain Eau de Coq this morning. The quintissential cologne: . intensely beautiful for a short while, then ethereal and fleeting to the fade point. I will carry a small decant with me to refresh when necessary. But yes, it is worth it!

I have been wearing Yves Rocher's Un Jour Se Leve up until now and
enjoying a spot of gardening and sunbathing. As we are off out to meet
friends for a drink, I shall change to Roma. It is such a unique, lovely
scent!

Welcome, mariabar. I tidied out my perfumes too, today!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE that foxy picture of Joan Collins!

Oh, Tao, isn't the new Diorissimo just awful? I hate to crow but (purely by coincidence) I am wearing my vintage Diorissimo EdC today. It's surely one of the greatest spring floral scents -- I'm almost swooning here!

Bigarade Concentree has seen me through two loads of laundry, a whole-house vacuuming, and some stone moving already and its only 10 a.m.

Well, I haven't tried the Chemical Bonding sample that you sent yet, so I am still hopeful

Also, need to try out the new L'Occitane Paeonia again, that little swab sample just wasn't enough for a proper testing.

Happy Birthday Strolly! Smell good!

SotD yesterday and today is Chanel No.5 EP layered with No.5 parfum, inspired by a thread on the FFD. Interesting combo...I think there is something about the EP that reminds me of No.22 as it really sweetens up the parfum.

Welcome, welcome, Mariabar.

I am testing Balmy Days and Sundays, by Ineke, and I think that I will buy a bottle right now. It is all about spring.

Hello, Mariabar! Welcome! Also hi, Warum and Petra Ichor (I love your pic of the day), and to Klaire, and to anyone else I haven’t yet said hello to.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Mysticknot and to Strollyourlobster!

I wore No. 5 Eau Première as SotM, and I’m now wearing Prada L’eau Ambrée as SotE. It turned cool again today, what happened? I’m still nursing my sinus troubles. I’m sick of myself already!

Have a great evening everybody.

Happy Birthday to Strolly and Mr. mysticknot! And welcome to our new BNers!

I'm feeling discouraged tonight because DH and I just had our third day of furniture browsing. This is our second major attempt to agree on bedroom furniture (the first was nearly 10 years ago when we were just starting out). It's tough because he really likes Arts and Crafts and I'm very traditional (a little fluting, or rosettes, or other architectural embellishments, maybe burled wood or some inlay design, Hepplewhite drawer pulls, etc.). I want furniture that's interesting and pretty, and A&C is just not that at all to me. Today we were supposed to look at just a few manufacturers we've decided we like, get some prices on a couple of collections we can actually agree on, and make a decision in the next few days. Then, after we did all that all afternoon, we got home tonight and he asked me to check out a website called Simply Amish. I already had, I don't like it, I'm upset, he thinks I don't compromise, and we were both miserable. Yet somehow we realized that after 6 hours of furniture shopping at three different stores up and down the penninsula (again) we're both just really tired and cranky and we'll pick it up again tomorrow or so. In the meantime, I'm going to try to find a nice dinette set in a Mission/Craftsman style and maybe we can compromise in that direction. I hate that this is so hard, and I don't want either of us to spend the next 30 years staring at something we don't like, feeling resentful, in our *bedroom* of all places.

Gosh, some problem, eh? I'm really so lucky.

Fortunately, my new bottle of L'Occitane Peony helps make everything better. That and the sure knowledge that I've got a really swell husband.
