Guerlain Cologne du 68 - that patisserie note

The Guerlinade jumps out at me first thing when I spray this on and almost turns me off, because I'm not a huge fan of the heliotrope/vanilla and lavender combo. Almost like having nothing in the house to eat but an almond croissant when what I really crave is a salty jamon and manchego cheese sandwich. However, I'm glad I've given this fragrance a chance. The evolution it goes though as it catalogs its 68 ingredients is like looking through a kaleidoscope. The almond croissant trots up again as the scent comes full circle in its drydown - but by then the patisserie has become a fond acquaintance, if not quite my very best friend.

Curious to know if this note occurs early in the fragrance for others, or is it something you notice later on?

Yes, I smell it. My nose perceives it almost immediately, just like you. It reminds me of the same effect I smell in L' Instant Pour Homme Extreme. I am still trying to figure out, if I can comfortably wear Cologne du 68. I have a 1/2 used bottle I got very affordable on Ebay and I am waiting until warmer weather arrives to see if that change in climate has a more desirable effect on the scent for me.

It's almost a variation of Guerlinade, but a sharper more radiant (and more synthetic) smelling variation.
