Fruity but Manly!

This one's for my lady.

We both would like something a bit...more suitable for summer. Not something minty like Live Jazz, something bitter-true like D'Orange Verte, or the usual aquatic like Aqua di Gio.

We were sampling Escada - Sunset Heat, and its relatively pleasing, but its just not as composed or balanced enough for my extended liking.

Anyone have good recommendation for a manly/fruity scent that employs ripe mango? If I could find a scent thats like a sweet ripe mango...I just might faint!

Hugo Boss Selection has a fruity top note, but it may not be fruity enough for you.

Its funny, one of my first posts here on base notes had almost the exact same title.

The only thing I've smelled with a mango note is Paris Hilton for Men. It was actually recommended to me in that thread. You might like it. For as cheap as it is, it's worth a shot.

Acier Aluminum - yes. Not so mango -- maybe "juicy fruit." Try before buy, but give a chance. It grows on you.

I find Delicious Closet Queen by ELdO very fruity with a distinct sweet berry top note. Suppposely a masculine with a ffeminine underpinning, LT/TS say to ignore the ELdO reference to frilly pink underwear and states that this is a sweet manly scent with boxer shorts.

If you can ignore the funny name, this is very much a fruity masculine. (I think all the ELdO scents are really all in fun, anyway.)

No Mango but fruity and green and I think it is manly (whatever that means)

Not mangoey - but more frutier...

I agree with Oslo-Fjord with their suggestion of Millesime Imperial. I would also check out Allure Homme Sport - smells like melon or ripening fruit to me.

Check out Daddy Yankee for a nice tropical fruity, summertime scent.

Quasar has a tropical opening that's very fruity with a banana accord, which later dries down to masculine woody heart notes.

Dior Homme Intense
The incomparable Jazz Prestige

My boyfriend really likes to wear Le Rivage des Syrtes by MDCI. It's "unisex", but it's a fougere. A pineapple and orange fougere. I LOVE it.

How about Cool Water Game?? I just bought a bottle of this for $9 and I have been really impressed with its balance and composure. I love that it's long lasting, manly, and has a great combination of watermelon, black currant, and citrus. Top notch!

Polo Double Black has a mango opening that I love, but doesn't last long enough on me.

John Varvatos and Nicole Miller both have fruity openings but leather bases. Tommy Bahama Set Sail South Seas, and South Barts, as well as Very Cool: are all fruity and and for men, but I wouldn't say "manly" They can all be worn by a woman I think. Daddy Yankee is quite fruity but also gourmand and woodsy, it's actually quite sexy and smells much like Perry Ellis (2008); IZOD is quite fruity and invigorating. Adidas Dare is very similar to IZOD but with slightly better longevity and not as "bright" of an opening. Polo Double Black as stated by grm215. Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford, if you don't mind spending a little more; it has a dark citrus opening.

Overall though going by your post, I think Daddy Yankee might be a good choice; Plus it's a cheapy. It's got that same type of opening as Sunset Heat, and IZOD.. Very invigorating top notes. Where IZOD and Sunset Heat lack though (mostly the base) Daddy Yankee's woods emerge. So it's not completely summer, it's actually very versatile. It's also pretty complex.

+1 on Guess Suede. It's more fruity than suede for sure, longevity isn't the best though.
