Best sandalwood/rose out there

I thought that the house of Montale would be a good place to start. I'm still trying to find the closest thing I can get to Bath & Body Works' Sandalwood Rose scent. Would Montale's Black Aoud be a good place to start? I have already sampled C & S #88 and it wasn't even close nor impressed me. Thanks!!

Yes, Black Aoud should be rewarding for you in your quest for a rose/sandalwood combo fragrance.
Personally I love Bath & Body's Sandalwood Rose too though I just have their shower gel. I make it a point to shower with this when I know I am going to wear any sandalwood fragrance.

Remember to go VERY easy on the trigger with Black Aoud whenever you try it. It can get very overbearing if oversprayed.

Chanel Egoiste (not Platnium) is a great, rich sandalwood + rose scent.

+2 on Black Aoud. On another very different note, Hammam Bouquet is also a good alternative.

Also, I have a sample of Smell Bent's Bollywood or Bust. While a bit on the sweet side (they claim it's sandalwood & rose but it was more synthetic berries & sandalwood to my nose), the sandalwood accord was actually very nice. Reasonably priced, too. Definitely worth investing in a sample.

Why not just stick with the Bath and Body Works? If it's workin' for ya?

But I will attest to the fact that Montale's Black Aoud is amazing. Really, really good. Wish I had experience with Amouage's Homage but, sadly, I don't.
