Want sophisticated rose perfume

Thread Starter
Please can someone help me? I'm looking for a sophisticated rose based perfume. I love YSL Paris, but it smells odd on me so I cannot wear it. I have tried Stella McCartney and Stella Rose Absolut, neither of which last on me. Nahema by Guerlain also smelt unpleasant on me.

My favourite perfumes are Dune by Dior; Opium, Cinema and Elle by YSL; L'Instant by Guerlain; No 19, Coco and Cristalle Eau Vert by Chanel if that sheds any light on what I might like!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Greetings Zosema,
Have you sampled Rouge Hermes? I see you enjoy the spicy Orientals. Caught my eye 'cause so do I. This perfume is, I believe, still in production. I have the EDP and haven't worn it in awhile... Hmm, now I'm inspired. Todays a dark and rainy day, a lovely one for the Rouge and a visit to our favorite French restaurant.
Have fun, Jenny

Welcome Zosema! Rose perfumes are amoung my absolute favorites. Check here for a listing of rose scents: http://www.sniffapaloozamagazine.com/ROSE.html

My favorites are: DSH Perfumes American Beauty, Parfum de Grasse & Rose Vert, Frederick Malle Une Rose, Les Parfums de Rosine, Rosa Flamenca, Rose d'Ete, Ecume de Rose, Creed's Fleurs de Bulgarie & Fleur de The Rose Bulgare.

Since you like Chanel CeV, I think you would especially like DSH's American Beauty.

WoW! RHM, your link is truly an embarrassment of riches!
Well, Zozema, just in case you need to try out two more:

1. Dark Rose by Czech and Speake
2. Egoiste by Chanel

You can look them up in the 'reviews' section

And welcome to the madness!

Cheers,

Mario

I don't really know that much brands, but something simple that focuses on quality oud and rose essential would be the best.

I, personally, like the lighter side of rose. Smells less pot pouri and more wearable. Two fragrances I would recommend are:

Amouage Lyric man
Le Labo Rose 31

Of the two Lyric is more sophisticated. Le Labo's rose kind of disappears into something soapy with a hint remaining, but is great.
Expensive, though!

Two of my favorite roses are Cabaret by Gres and Rose Absolue by Yves Rocher. And they're both very affordable.

LOL, RHM!

Warning: these are not cheap...sample first or try the purse "bullets."

Try the Juliet Has A Gun line (designed by "an offbeat dandy..."), as the early scents were based on a rose theme...Lady Vengeance, Miss Charming and Citizen Queen. (Now the line is getting into other notes for Calamity J and the Oud scents.)

My fav is Citizen Queen, a rich leather/rose scent.

Definitly seek out samples first to try on your skin. I advocate that before any full bottle purchase.

Oha by Téo Cabanel is such a lovely rose... a very classic EDP!

Montale's Attar is an excellent rose.

Tendre Kiss by Lalique

I second Yves Rocher's Rose Absolue, which is a very pretty, spicy rose -- very wearable. And you can't beat the price!

At the other end of the price spectrum, Eau d'Italie's Paestum Rose is supposed to be lovely.
