Frags for superstitional matters :)

So, a few days back, I had to sit a very imortant exam and noticed quite suprised that it took me considerably less time than usual to settle on a fragrance.
Cool Water by Davidoff
And come to think about it, i realised that I reach very often for it if something big/important is going to happen(bdays, exams, etc).
So , besides that fact that I love it and that it was my very first bottle ever (one might has led to the other, i dunno ) I guess I really have developed a certain superstition for it.
It "cools/calms" me, makes me feel confident and plain good, all of which even way more than it does on a normal day.


Soo, anyone else got this kind of favourite?
And, even more interesting, is there a story behind it?

I have kind of the opposite - negative superstitions about great scents, because they remind me of old GFs. Givenchy Gentleman, Polo, Aramis Devin, and Chanel Allure Homme. They bring back memories, almost like I'm standing there, so I rarely wear them unless I'm in the mood. It's like the way the Stones stopped playing Sympathy for the Devil in concerts. Great song, but tempts fate. Great frags, but they're like time machines. I guess I save them and use them like old photo albums.

usually when i have big exams i wear red and put on a fragrance that is strong and confident , like acier, bois du portugal, royal english leather,etc.

Every time I do guided meditation I wear Serge Noire by Serge Lutens. It's my little tradition, and it comforts me.

Interesting. At meditation sessions I attend once a year in Southeast Asia it's customary to pass a bottle of Rosewater around the room - some of the members stock up on a vsit to various holy sites in Turkey. I find myself wearing Homage 'for luck' quite a bit these days for special meetings with people - uplifting and sort of 'centering' IYKWIM

I don't seem to do this, but I admire you guys for having a fragrance-based system to deal with stress and anxiety.

You know, I read somewhere that baseball players on a winning streak will wear the same sweaty jockstrap over and over as a superstitious guarantee the lucky streak won't end. Seems to me you guys have a "leg up" on them! (You probably smell a whole lot better, too...)

I concur. Serge Noire is a great scent for meditation. Centers me somewhat.

Coincidentally, I also had an exam yesterday and I went for Love - By Kilian, I needed something tropical to boost up my mood.

For meditation I use something by Creed with ambergris-rich base. It's simply calming and reminds me of the sea.

Peppermint has been proven to be cognitively beneficial. So if you could find something that has a strong note of that, it might help.

Myself, I've found oud to be centering or grounding. M7 was comforting and centering. Almost the same with Tom Ford's Oud Wood.

Bois d'Encens (Armani Prive) is another that seems to help me focus, but rather coldly.

In my case, I have no particular fragrance choices as being the suitable wear for an exam, but, somehow off-topic...

I did notice something else: frags like both Drakkar Noir and Horizon by Guy Laroche, Very Valentino for Men or Francesco Smalto PH seem to have a very beneficial effect on me and seem to trigger increased capacity to focus, to perform and to comprehend not as much when I meditate, far more during any intellectual activity of mine in general (whether this activity is for professional or for far more personal/recreational/improvisational reasons)

Thus I do tend to perceive the aforementioned frags as the "intellectual ones" in my fragrance wardrobe
