today i had em swooning

Thread Starter
i never had such a great reaction in my life with any fragrance i ever worn, like the one i had today. as soon as i wlk in to work i get the ooohh it smells nice over here. i thought to myself meh i heard that one before nothing special. a few minutes later i get what are you wearing, then i thought ok this is getting intersting. a few minutes later the word had spread! im not trying to sound concieded or anything but these women are very attractive and get hit on frequently and within my prescence. by the end of the day i was getting tons of hugs and ladies were asking me the name of the fragrance i was wearing, i even got a number from someone i just met. do you know what fragrance i was wearing?

That is no surprise, well, actually, maybe just a bit
not my favorite fragrance, but it def is a big hit with the ladies!

You a good looking guy? IMO that's the most important factor, as I find that the guys that get complemented a lot are attractive (or at least fairly attractive) and women were looking for a reason to talk to him in the first place. Because honestly, if the dude is fat and unattractive, it doesn't matter how good he smells, women aren't going to give him hugs and flirt with him. (This is especially true amongst younger people)

I worked with a guy who would use half a can of Axe body spray on himself each day and smelled awful. But he was tall and muscular and handsome and women would swoon all over him anyway.

After dropping 30lbs myself, I'm getting A LOT more attention.

Eh, that's just the way it goes I guess.

it is a nice versatile smell, definitely not my favorite, and not even my favorite creed as you said but it is a best seller for a reason.

I got some samples off ebay recently. I'll probably wear some to work for the first time next week. I just wonder if anyone will compliment me, or just think I'm wearing Cool Water.
I always get compliments when I wear it.........I like it, but far from my favorite.

I guess I got run over by a truck because I've only gotten 1 compliment on GIT, though I love it no matter (that's what counts IMHO). At least the compliment I got was a dandy: "you smell like a man." Sums it up since I think this is really very masculine & sharp.

I get compliments on some of the other colognes I wear, and when wearing designer clothes & accessories I own. It is sad but true that a nice, overweight guy won't get attention unless he's making bucu money. Neither will a hard working, rough around the edges guy trying to make ends meet. Also why do you think gray-haired, CEO looking men like the guys in Viagra ads get noticed by 20 year olds? Money.

My point is looks aren't everything to most women, or cologne for sure! The financial security you have to offer is your most attractive asset. Depressing but that's human nature.

I don't care how many compliments I got wearing GIT, I can't stand the smell of it. No offense to it's fans.
My third favorite fragrance ever. Wore it today in fact, and was again mesmerized by it. Still amazed at how this smells (IF FRESH! mine is an 09 make from creedboutique). so many changes in the drydown, and the end is just a pure sexy-sweet note.

my wife today goes, "damn you smell GOOOOD!" Asked what it was, and I said "Green Irish Tweed. the one I'm always wearing when you compliment me the best."

and it's true. nothing makes my wife swoon (EACH time) like GIT.

It works like this. Good looking Guy. Woman (or Women) walks up to Good Looking Guy (Who's wearing a nice Scent, in this case GIT) and say's "Wow, You smell Great"

Exactly.
I'm willing to bet if you wore Cool Water the reaction would be exactly the same.

Yeah I tried it a couple times but I just don't get anything from it. It's just really sweet and uninteresting.
Dixon, how many sprays and where did you apply?
Any scent that's not out right offensive will make women comment as long as the guy is attractive. Heck you can even test this theory. Hit the gym hard this summer and drop simply 20 pounds of flab and tack on 10 pounds of muscle. You'll notice people think your cologne smells better. Actually whats happening is more women are willing to speak up about it now that your looking sexier(they always thought it smelled good). I don't find it to be too much of a issue when it comes to scents I smell on women. Mostly because the women who don't bother to manage their health to even the slightest degree normally don't bother wearing perfume. I work with ONE exception to this and I always tell her she smells great when she is wearing perfume despite the fact that she is easily 100+ pounds overweight.

You could have gotten the same reaction for cheap (cool water)
Hey Dixon Cider, are you by any chance a friend of Hugh G. Rection and Norma Scock?
Psh, we all know that the masses prefer simple, common, and generic scents, and hence compliments should be shrugged off and you should proceed to immediately dispose of the GIT or, in fact, any scent that receives such admiration from commoners - it's obviously the sign of an inferior fragrance.

Please send the GIT to me so that it can be disposed of properly.
There is a SLIGHT resemblance to Cool Water. That's all....they're not in the same league, IMHO. GIT is my all-time compliment getter, and I never received one I can remember from CW, and I've worn both a lot. So comparing the two? Not so much. Maybe my body chemistry makes them smell radically different, as CW does NOTHING on me, while GIT really POPS.

Wow, you're mean! But as you said, that's the way it goes...

IMO, women appreciate the idea of a man who cares enough about personal grooming to wear a scent in the first place more than the actual scent. The fact that you were wearing GIT was most likely incidental.

eh... normally I'd agree with you... but my wife (who has seen me quite countless times) has a distinctly positive reaction when I where GIT as opposed to EVERY OTHER FRAGRANCE I own.

she's not being nice to me because I'm cute... GIT is just really that good.

And a few months back, I put on Cool Water (from a sample, i wouldn't spend $1.25 for a bottle of that shit) and she said absolutely nothing. I even asked her about it after hours of nothing, and she goes "yea, it's okay".

Cool Water blows. Sorry Snoop Dogg. hahahha...

I think you're right, Mr. Muffin

I think it is different when it comes to ones significant other.

Sorry, Cool water is crap compared to GIT. The drydown of cool water is weak in comparison, so flat.

The dry down of GIT is what makes it amazing.

I own both and I can confess to this. I'll wear cool water when I feel like it's whatever kind of day. GIT for when I'm feeling really motivated and confident

I like Green Irish Tweed quite a bit, but it's nowhere near my favorite scent. I will agree though that a lot of women really do find it irresistible. I remember one night I was going through my drobe showing stuff to a cute female friend of mine--I must have showed her about 20-30 different things (some she liked, some she didn't), but when she held the GIT up to her nose, her eyes got huge and she said "WOW! If I smelled this on a guy, I would follow him around all night." It was her favorite by far.

Good testimonial, bro!
I`ve never got compliments on my Creeds, whatever I wear. The only one was with Tabarome Millesime, which is Fahrenheit on steroids, - and that particular girl adores Fahrenheit madly. Even now.

Completely agree.

Ok, this thread was in the back of my mind for the past couple of days. I woke up today and decided I was going to go to work tonight and wear a good dose of Green Irish Tweed and see if I got any extra attention from women. I was going to make a little experiment out of it. OMG, I think the "I wore Rive Gauche to work and got bitten" thread seems quaint now.

Long story short, I had a woman at my bar who obviously noticed my GIT, because whenever I walked by her, she would fan her hands to waft the scent toward her nose, making an O-face. She had a few drinks and I overheard her making sexual comments about me to her friend. After a few more drinks she told me point blank that she would love to "bl*w" me. I'm not kidding. I was really shocked. I know there were a lot of factors at work, not the least being alcohol, but I do think my somewhat strong application of GIT had a serious effect on this woman. I contemplated even posting this, because it seems a bit "R-rated"(please forgive me if it's "too much information"--nothing happened--I was at work and trying to be professional), but really, how could I not mention it?!

Green Irish Tweed... I think I'll wear it every day, forever.

...if you are really sure you can handle all the "attention" *LOL*

I enjoyed your R-rated story

There's no doubt that there were other factors at work in order for her to make that comment but I can gaurantee you the Frag helped :>)

Yes, but did she take a nibble?
And to think all this time I thought GIT was like a high end Acqua di Gio. Not in scent, just in marketing, popularity, and a "meh" shrug from me.

Ok, look Indie, it's time for a double-blind experiment. Or better yet:

Wear GIT and spray Rive Gauche on your head!

Just do not overdo it, because if you're right, you might end up like Jean Baptiste:

If second-quarter GIT sales are BN-elastic, I think you could probably get Olivier Creed to bl*w you, at this point.
