TODAY I BOUGHT: May 2010 - Page 3

MPG Sandal Noble on ebay UK. It was a second chance offer too. The seller has quite a bit of MPG on sale as they are closing their shop.

Anyway I got an excellent deal compared to the BIN price too.

Habit Rouge (vintage spray deodorant) by Guerlain

Almost as strong as the EdT in sillage, this one compliments the fragrance quite nicely. Plus the packaging is so fantastically retro in a Charlies-Angels-sort of way.

Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille: 100ml Eau de Parfum shrinkwrapped - strong stuff and rare.
Thierry Mugler - A*Men Pure Malt: What a great blind buy. One of the most beautiful surprises EVER!
Aramis - New West: From the new Gentleman's collection. After that came Havana, right?

Today I received a nice little package from Switzerland containing my new bottle of Une Rose Chyprée by Tauer Perfumes.

I also purchased Andy's new "Teaser Set" of samples, which was recently re-released in a metal tin to match his new bottle design and logo. The set comes with any 5 samples of your choice and includes five matching cards describing each fragrance and five cards meant to be used as blotters. It is, officially, the cutest thing ever made.

Two small (20 ml each) bottles of Azzaro Silver Black.
And I am not THAT impressed...

Habit Rouge Beau Cavalier.

Since it seems to be a limited edition as far as I can tell, I opted to buy a backup bottle in the event it dissapears from US shelves as L'Instant Extereme has.

Now with two bottles, I fear I'm turning into "one of those guys" with multiple bottles of same scent. But I like this one too much.

It was such a long time I wanted it :

My review :
"Like all others Bulgari fragrances, I'm very hooked on this one.
Definitely similar to his brother Pour Homme (PH), it starts brilliantly with a mix of citrus and something kinda soapy. It's not totally as fresh as PH, but it's clean and distinctive. Then, unlike PH, it doesn't turn really warmer on the skin. Instead, the papyrus note starts to settle in slowly and become more prominent as the time passes. I don't know if it's this papyrus note who gives this feeling, but in the drydown I smell something very earthy, very natural, like the smell of roots of a green plant freshly harvested, when a bit of mud is still lingering on. I could understand someone who wouldd find this smell "dirty", but I find it actually very original and appealing since I like the smell of trees and green plants.
I find Soir being a cold fragrance, when PH is kinda warm, but I find it sensual as well. You can wear it all year round by any weather IMO, but as the name suggest it, I find it more appealing for an evening use.
I didn't use it enough to be sure about the longevity and sillage, but it seems to be the same as PH, namely close to the skin but with very good longevity.
My overall feeling of this scent : "What you're gonna do tonight, darling ?" "

I thought this one, was just a repackaged version of Habit Rouge? Is it different? I have a generous sample of Habit Rouge EDC, and I really don't like the stuff.

It's the regular edp, but repackaged. The edp isn't available everywhere though; it doesn't seem to exist here in the Netherlands, for instance. I don't understand why Guerlain strangles distribution the way they do...

And on topic: I treated myself to a Shalimar soap today.
