Well I didn't buy it, but I received a gift from a VERY generous BNer - a 10ml bottle of Ava Luxe Midnight Violet extrait. It is truly spectacular.

Notes include Violet, Blue Iris, Orris, Earth, Black Hemlock, Galbanum, Pink Pepper, Cinnamon, Cedar, Sandalwood, Incense, Wood Balsam, Moss, Civet, and Cashmere Musk.

I just read Chaya's review of Midnight Violet on Perfume Shrine yesterday, petruccijc, and it sounds gorgeous. Enjoy!

After wearing a sample of Atelier Trefle Pur for a week, I headed to Neimans today to purchase a full bottle of this beauty. However, I came home without it. Instead I purchased Le Baiser Du Dragon; Miss Dior; Coco Mlle Sensual Elixir. For some reaon, I let the SA sway my decision because she offered me some of the nicest goodies with my purchase of Cartier. I'm still pleased with my purchases though. I'll get the Atelier next time.

L'Artisan Patchouli Patch.
Oh,lots of nice buys here! That makes me feel a little less guilty...I ordered a bottle of Musc Ravageur this Friday..and,I know, it's not exactly the best time of the year for this type of scent..and,I know, I shouldn't have gone for the 100 ml bottle..but..you know this "needtohaveitNOW" kind of situation??That's what happened to me ever since I first smelled it..besides, they're increasing the Malle prices here this month, I just had to grab one before that happened!!

Chamade edp 50ml refill at a really good deal. Just waiting for it to arrive from the online retailer, got an extra £2 off as well.

My husband bought me Carnal Flower which is very sweet of him considering I dyed his hair yesterday and made a complete hatchet job of it- it was supposed to be ash blonde but it came out Billy Idol white. OMG !
Wow, Carnal Flower!

Technically these are April purchases/perfumes, but it feels a bit retrograde to post them in the April thread, so I hope no one minds.

My husband bought me Amaranthine (100ml) for my birthday, my sister regifted Chanel Chance EDP 35ml to me, and I bought myself L'air de rien. The L'air de rien is yet to arrive - I had to buy online since going to the Nottingham Miller Harris store, I discovered it had closed down. And then John Lewis was all out too. Still, at least buying online meant I got a free mini candle. I chose Terre de Bois, completely on instinct, I hope it's nice!

Fabulous finds!

I headed out shopping to buy Circus Fantasy by Britney Spears but found online pricing to be much cheaper. Still haven't ordered it. I bought Bouquet by Vera Wang, an absolutely delightful floral. As well, I bought Pink Sugar. Couldn't help myself. Tried D & G #3 - a gorgeous fruity scent - which might make it as another May purchase.

Zirh Ikon 2.5; also ordered Blue Sugar 1.7 and Paradox Green 1.7

Dior Poison edt, 50 ml. After all these years, this is my first bottle of this juice. My daughter loves it on me but it did burn just a tiny bit when I sprayed it on my fore arms. Tuberose ain't my "thang" but I love jasmine sambac!

Mysticknot, I just got vintage Bellodgia parfum de toilette. I bet the extrait is a beauty!
Also delivered today - Moschino de moschino (blind buy based on the unsung treasure thread).

25ml Bvlgari Pour Femme - a lovely floral that has a great 'old fashioned cosmetics' air about it; very lipstick-y. Nice staying power although the drydown is pretty subtle on my skin; it's a very elegant fragrance. Much better than some of Bvlgari's other offerings.

Chaya's review is wonderful and I bought Midnight Violet based on it ! It is Serena's masterpiece IMHO and wish she would bring it back.

Yesterday received Annayake Miyako from ebay. (From TPC: A beautiful Oriental woody fragrance that combines incense and floral notes including cardamom, cinnamon, frankincense, hinoki, rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, patchouli, cedar, sandalwood, musk, rockrose, benzoin, myrrh, and amber.)
I'd describe it as L'Air du Desert Marocain LIGHT. They're VERY similar!

Bought in April, but Neil Morris Gandhara and Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia just arrived over the past few days. I'm happy.

Yep, that was me! Cocktail sounded like fun; couldn't resist getting the mini. I will let you know! Couldn't find a mini of Vacances, though. :-(
post #28 of 164
I'm also interested in hearing about Jean Patou's Cocktail. Better late than never, I'm looking forward to receiving my sample of Jean Patou's 1000. I may order a sample of Mitsouko too.

Also looking forward to developing a more sophisticated 'nose' and learning lots here at BN!

You're going to love the Accenti!

Today I caved and bought D & G #3. I tried it this past weekend and just had to have it! Also placed an order for a mini EDT of Versace's Bright Crystal to try, and a mini EDP of Arpege. I haven't smelled Arpege for years & years; I hope it's as beautiful today.
Big bottle of Laguna! Will probably tire of it soon but it's basic drydown resemblance to another fave makes me want to enjoy this fling a while longer!

And I indulged in a bottle of Turbulences parfum, on Kumquat's mossy recommendation. Can't imagine seeing it again at that price!
I went to Paris today and headed straight to 31 Rue Cambon for Chanel No 22 and Cuir de Russie parfum. I also managed to swing by Guerlain and Caron, but didn't actually get anything from them, which I kind of regret.

Dead. Dead of envy, I am.
Tott...oh my, but that sounds lovely.

The generosity of basenotes members makes my heart swell. I was gifted recently with a beautiful package which contained Youth Dew parfum, Youth Dew bath oil, a sample of Ave Luxe Midnight Violet, a lovely card and some Sweet Tarts. Sofie is loving the Sweet Tarts, they were just in time for standardized testing at her school.

Thank You!!!!!!

Today I purchased a small bottle of Balenciaga Paris edp. I love the violet/pepper chypre scent. It's comforting.

What a perfect Mother's Day treat! I tried this fragrance recently. It's one of the prettiest violet-based fragrances I've come across.

Two days ago I bought a lot of samples and a couple of large decants (African Honeysuckle, Rose #1 The American Beauty, and Rose #3 The Beach Roses) from Dawn Spencer Hurwitz's studio. The whole experience was great, and I'm not even sure what am I doing back home

I bought a backup of Nahema edp, a backup of Renee Musk, and Kamary, Sahara, Ambre and Olive Flowers from Madini.

I'm also waiting for these samples from Madini: Mirage, Ambargris, Tajalli, Salma and Karima.

I purchased three bottles of perfume last weekend and vowed to myself that I'd not make another purchase for a long while. i broke that vow today and purchased YSL Opium. I really like this and I've always known that I would purchase it 'someday'. just never expected 'someday' to come this soon. I was soooo close to resisting but the SA showed me a mini Opium that was included in the GWP set. At that point, my willpower was gone and I became putty in the SA's hands. I collect minis thus I'm always a sucker for them no matter what.
Been collecting Sophia Grojsman's work lately so today being payday(as if I wouldn't buy it anyway)I bought Tresor (limited edition bottle is frosted )for $18 unboxed full at a local thrift shop. I have to assume someone recieved as a gift and didn't like -my gain! Then after work I went to Ross and got Sun Moon Stars edt for $20;and (non SG though) Chlo'e edt $13!
Had some fun at TPC... Picked up large decants of Caron's Tubereuse in parfum extrait and Serge Lutens' Sarrasins, as well as a bunch of Caron samples and a sample of Berdoues' Violette Divine ( the notes really drew my curiosity - I'm hoping it smells like Midnight Violet with tuberose, though it likely won't ). The Caron Tubereuse is a blind buy, but Sarrasins has been haunting me with its chilly jasmine, and I just couldn't eek out my sample any longer.
Le Temps d'une Fête and Rose Pivoine from Nicolaï arrived yeasterday.
I didn't buy it for myself but I splashed out on my dear husband and bought him a pure Oud Oil called Kyara Koutan. We both love it. It's the most money I've ever spent on scent but well worth it.

Chanel Cristalle Eau de Parfum

Notes include citrus, fresh greens, peach, tangerine, melon, jasmine, muguet, cyclamen and musky woods.

My vintage Chanel 19 arrived today (from ebay.) Seller thinks it's 30ish yrs old... was surprised to see it is "hecho en Mexico"! But was not too dismayed as I'd previously read some chanel and mitsouko were marked such. Had a heck of a time getting the metal seal off the top of the bottle (has anyone seen this before?) and under the metal was a plastic plug. Smells lovely, by the way! Nicer and a lot less powder than my current edt.

The Soivohle samples I ordered -- Daybreak Violin, Love Speaks Primeval, Lilacs & Roses, and Lilacs & Heliotrope -- arrived today. I'm testing Love Speaks Primeval one one wrist and Lilac Heliotrope on the other. Both are wonderful, but I am especially pleased with the Lilacs & Heliotrope. I adore the scent of real lilacs but never seem to enjoy fragrances that are lilac-heavy. For some reason, any time lilac is at the forefront of a scent, that scent always ends up giving me a massive headache. But this little sample may finally steer me in the direction of a lilacesque scent I can actually wear and enjoy!
