Guerlain
Cologne du Parfumeur
(2010)
Thierry Wasser
Green Citrus
------------------
Notes: Calabrian Orange Blossom, Lemon, Bergamot, Lavender, Mint, Rosemary
------------------
The notes in themselves suggest nothing out-of-the-ordinary in this scent, but the fragrance is not quite like any other eau-de-cologne-style scent I've ever smelled before. As a sales gimmick, Guerlain has been offering a special drink at the Paris opening for this which contains the notes listed above (the lavender in the drink is a lavender syrup). In the days when perfumer's alcohol was not denatured, but potable, people did drink the cologne to right real or imagined maladies. Strangely, this does smell almost drinkable not recommended given today's denatured perfume alcohol. The smell is very Guerlain, even without the guerlinade signature base notes: really elegant, unobtrusive, yet anything but below-the-radar. Very refreshing and citrusy, with a distinctly green and herbal drydown, a slightly resinous one, which is perhaps due to the rosemary. Generous quantities at fairly reasonable (for Guerlain) prices. I got the 8.5 oz. (250ml.) size. A good thing, because it will require reapplication if you want it to last. Recommended.
