What discontinued fragrances should we stock up now?

I just got Ungaro II today and I love it! I wasn't so sure of the civet note after the top notes are gone, but after that softened down, it just became an incredible fresh yet dirty scent. Amazing.

My only regret is that it is now discontinued, although I can still get it online relatively cheap, so I'll be stocking up on this while I can. So I'm wondering, what discontinued fragrance is it worth stocking up right now?

I was told by a store owner in the Washington DC metro area that Ungaro II is being made in small batches. She had some in stock and when I asked about it that is what I was told. (I posted a thread on that last autumn, fyi).

As to what is worth stocking up on, limit it to items you like lots and will use.

I recently bought a bottle of 4 Voleurs from Strawberry Net via ebay. When I go back on the internet, I only see bottles of shower gel. This stuff has good reviews here, and I personally like it a lot. If anyone wants to restock or just give this stuff a blind go, I would keep my eyes open for any available sale.

Cacheral Nemo!

One of the best woody, spicy orientals. Similar to Envym but warmer and more sensual.

FUBU Plush for men & Cumming the Fragrance.

Zino Davidoff? I know it seems to be everywhere (an at discounted prices) right now, but technically, it is discontinued, right?

The Dreamer, apparently!

Pure Coffee and then Pure Malt.

If this is the perfume store at Tysons or at Reston Town Center I would find rare stuff there and the owner would tell me that they are still made in small batches which I know is not true. I got Missoni Uomo and DK Unleaded from him and he told me they are still made in small batches.
As for what to stock up on. It's amazing when I use to see stuff like Cuiron and Dolce By Man at really low prices and now I see them selling for around $200. Dolce By never seemed like anything special to me when I used to see it at Sephora.
Right now I've stocked up on A*Men Pure Coffee and Pure Malt. Pure Malt is my favorite of the two.

If you can find Cumming the Fragrance that is. (I'm so curious about it I've been looking, although I fear I'd blind buy it, try it once, and put it up for sale.)

It is the same store, but I spoke with a lady there.

I bought a 50ml decant and a 100ml bottle of "Puro Lino". It's a soapy/floral fragrance, in my opinion the best soapy fragrance there is.

Lucky scent used to sell it a couple years ago, but you can't get it any where unless you get it from a private seller. I even called the shop in Italy and they don't export to the US anymore.

Oh well, I got a couple bottles, so that should last a while.

Philtre d'Amour by Guerlain
Sous le Vent by Guerlain
Any of the Institut Tres Bien colognes - all 3 are fantastic.

It's too late to buy Alexander McQueen's Kingdom. Now the prices are very high since the tragic death of the designer.

anyone know where to find pure malt in a store or is that opportunity long gone?

I e-mailed L'Occitane about the availability of Cedre EDP and was told that it had been "phased out," so you might want to try to find it at a L'Occitane store or call their distribution center now if you want it (it's no longer available on the site).

Acteur by Azzaro is another one. I noticed there are a couple on ebay at decent prices now, but I doubt that will last very long.
I second Zino. I would also have suggested Ungaro 2, but I think we're now at the point (at least here in the UK) that there are no shop stocks left, so it's just down to e-bay private stash saled. That being the case, I would suggest the pre-formulated Ungaro 3 - some can still be found in shops and on the 'bay - and, possibly, even the new formulation. It's not a patch on the original, but it's still quite good in its own way and I'm sure that, when it's properly gone, people will miss it.

by is a nice spicy woody frag, if you like that one you look at bois du portugal and vintage tabarome especially tabarome because it is like by on steroids

hmmm that sucks. Perhaps IFRA reformulation would have killed it. I take it you heard this from a reliable source.

Ohh, Hillaire, I ordered the Genny bodycream a few weeks ago, MY GOD, heavenly!!

I second, from the previous posts especially the Ungaro II suggestions

I would also stock up, on almost any occasion, the stunning yet elusive and quite powerhouse Francesco Smalto Pour Homme - a fragrance somewhat in the vibe of Drakkar Noir or of Duc de Vervins, but with a stronger yet also very distinguished herbal-aromatic note

Whao... the list is long! These are going to be my first priorities to try before they're gone...

Zino is the one I would go for too. I had a rush of blood recently on hearing it had been discontinued and bought five bottles so I'm good for a while.

Siecle & Balafre

I'd second Tenere (which happened to be my SOTD yesterday).

Dear Hillaire, I liked your list, but the scents mentioned above have not been discontinued in Germany. I spotted them in many shops and departments-stores. Maybe they are about to be discontinued? Or - do you mean- in the case of Y by YSL - reformulated?
Just don't have the necessary info, I guess.
Genny... NOT discontinued in Italy, only the old, original formula from the 80's. I just bought "Eau de Genny" in Venice, it is lovely. The shop-assistant told me that Genny is distributed by Morris Fragrances and that they'd still be producing the stuff.

These scents are not discontiued? They just may be hard to locate in Germany.

Ok, I'm ordering samples for Cuiron, Jil Sander Feeling Man, Y, Gucci Rush for men, Nicolai pour Homme, Kingdom. Are there any others from the recommended fragrances above that I have to have to try right now?

I could be wrong but I think Creed, because Creed does in-house production, is one of the houses not affected by IFRA regulations. The other bit of good news is they will do special orders of discontinued fragrances although I'm sure that doesn't come cheap (I can't find the letter source but I have it around here somewhere).
